N.Y. Daily News / Support For Lavin

This is a wake up call for all Redmen posters. Forget your nonsense.

That's Lavin's side. Who knows what the school thinks. I don't think he is gong anywhere if he lands a good class.

Well find out in 2 months, will be interesting.
Really don't know if I could take another year of Lavins crap.

If it's up to the administration alone, I think he stays. (Unless I guess the buyout is cheap? Is there even one?) But I think if a few big-money donors want him gone (and I'm pretty sure they do), it'll happen.

I really think it'll be that simple.

I'm sure the Donors know that we'll never win with lavin, I believe if they care enough then he's gone, if not then whatever.

Everyone is always supportive until they are not supportive. Not that it is the case here but did you every hear of a vote of confidence for a coach or manager who is than shortly thereafter fired.

Yeah, except we are looking up at DePaul in the BE standings. But I guess our crack AD wouldn't even know that in real life! LOL

I don't read anything in the article that quotes anyone other than Lavin, and his own perception that his job is safe.

I'm glad he wants to be here, and that any failures recruiting due to a desire to leave Dodge.

I can't help but think that some of his failures are in part due to his success in bringing two NBA players here over 4 seasons and having both leave early. We could only imagine a roster that included Sampson, Harkless, and a valuable reserve in Thomas. But hey, that's the dilemma at the highest levels of college basketball - recruit NBA talent, and expect they will be gone as soon as possible.

The proof is in the pudding. Lavin spoke last year as if a contract extension was right around the corner. It's a year later and nothing has been finalized. If the administration wanted him locked up, they would've signed something by now.

That is because Monasch is not a pushover and as inept as people here seem to think. He brought Lavin here to win, not just return us to respectability. You simply cannot justify this kind of salary unless the program consistently is in the upper 1/3 of the Big East. That, IMO, takes time, and LAvin is running out of time.

As somebody who wants Lavin gone the one problem I foresee is that he's leaving us in way worse shape than even Norm did. Recruits don't commit to schools, they commit to coaches. We may have 4 players on our roster come April if we make a change... Even so I think it's worth it to just rip the band aid off.

Not so sure about that. Didn't Lavin inherit 9 or 10 seniors?

I'm not a big fan of Lavin's, but Norm showed a level of ineptitude that I've never seen before.

Yup

Both articles contain very little content that isn't obvious to long-time fans. OF COURSE the university is showing unwavering support, that's what what you do to get the most out of a situation like this. I don't care who he recruits, he's simply not doing what he was hired to do, and his results speak for themselves.
