I would assume Chris' ties to, love of and loyalty to Coach Carnaseca = the key factor in making this a real possibility(?).

Question - why is there indication Jordan & Obekpa will leave even if Chris is coach?

@BrandonTierney: Chris Mullin is one of those rare cats w/true crossover appeal...catching up on a street corner or mixing it up w/execs in boardroom.
 
Whether mullin will work out as a successful head coach, im not 100 percent sure... However this BS that just cuz these kids are 16 or 17 that they don't know who Mullin is is just plain ignorant.

IMO, it is being over rated. Only the first or second year would it even matter if kids knew Mullin as a player or not. You would hope by year 2-3 they would know a bit about him for his coaching. Plus kids could throw his name into google/YouTube if they even cared to find out more.

The kids coaches/parents absolutely know who Mulin is...You Tube will take care of the rest...

As good a recruiter as Lavin was, I am sure he took a backseat when entering gyms where the big boys (K, Boeheim, Pitino) were in attendance....Mullin will not take a back seat and will have presence...

And by the way, no of those legends wil be able to demonstrate shooting to a kid ike Mullin

A friend of mine who played at Dartmouth and was recruited by some pretty big schools went to Coach K's camp years ago and said he was dirty as hell during the games. Didn't mention lights-out shooting, though.:lol:

Wow it struck me, the excitement, silliness and energy on these posts at the mere thought of an SJU Head Coach Chris Mullin!!! If that becomes a reality so could blue chips, Ws, Big East finals, Sweet Sixteens and sweeter final fours. These would not be mere dreams from long frustrated fans. These would be possibilities!
