This was all very strange. He's out, he's not, he's back, he's gone. I wish him luck in his career. Sounds like he will make a decent living playing ball. Good gig for him. Sure looks like maybe he saw the writing on the wall and didn't hear what he wanted from CM.

Monte: Chris, what happened?

Mullin: Well we-...

Monte: You get it straightened out?

Chris: No, we had a problem... and uh, we tried to do everything we could.

Monte: What d'you mean?

Mullin: Well, you know what I mean. He's gone, and we couldn't do nothing about it.

[pause]

Mullin: That's it.

Monte: What d'you mean? What d'you mean? Uh...

Mullin: He's gone. Uh, he's gone.

[pause]

Mullin: And that's it.

Could have been a nice player off the bench but nothing more. Would've been nice to have that instant offense off the bench this year though.

Had his physical limitations which precluded him from ever being an all-around player. The Italian league is not great in basketball at all, unlike soccer. So I think this will suit him fine.

Honestly, who cares. Oh well. This won't have much of an effect on us.

Obviously they probably will get a fourth guard to protect against injury. Expecting Wilson to fill that role immediately seems a stretch. Where remains to be seen.

I respectfully disagree. I am told by one very closely related to the St.John's program that Mussini brought a sense of maturity and focus to the practices which rubbed off on other players. Yeah, Mussini would not have started but maturity and focus is something that cannot be easily replaced.

Trimble currently on an official visit, per Zach B.

Don't know much about his game, but sounds like he would be a fine replacement.

Classy post.

I predict 10 pages of posts on this topic.
70% will be bitching about the loss and over-exaggerating the affect on next year's team.
20% will be of the good riddance variety
10% will be simply wishing him luck.

I like to be different so I am going to fall into two categories.
Good Luck Frederico! Hope you make a ton of $ and bang a bunch of Italian chicks!
It is not a major issue on the court going forward as he was clearly going to be the 4th guard.

And being the fourth guard in a three-guard offense isn't a meaningless role.

FM was a good player for us for 2 seasons. Unfortunately he's a little too slow and short for what we needed. I wish him the best. He can hold his head high.

I was a big Mussini fan. I think we will miss his outside shooting a lot and the kid always put effort in last year on defense and he was excellent at the foul line.

Best of luck to him in the future

Looks like I'm far from the first person to find this off base. We lose experience, a good teammate, our 4th leading scorer in 2016/17, 2nd leading scorer in 2015/16, and our best 3 point shooter....yea, should have no affect. I forgot you can teach experience to underclassmen.

Represented SJU in all the right ways and in Mullins first year was productive with that barren roster. When he got into a shooting groove his offense could make up for his defensive shortcomings but those games were too few and far between.
You don't move to the upper echelon of the Big East with players of his ability contributing significant minutes. While Mussini appears to be a wonderful young man and a great teammate this is another sign that Mullin is looking for bigger things. Mussini is the type of player Looie would have to play in the second half of games vs Duke and Kansas and who couldn't compete.
