Music And All Things BrookJersey (Moran)

A musical piece from Giddens latest project “American Railroad”, a very ambitious musical and historical look at the building of the railroad.

The gentleman in the dark red shirt playing several percussion instruments is Francesco Turrisi, an Italian multi-instrument musician who collaborated with Giddens on “They’re Calling Me Home” a 2022 Grammy winner for Best Folk Album.

And that led to this, an equally ambitious Americana album, Largo, very loosely inspired by the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak’s 1893 New World Symphony.
The album was a song writing collaboration of Rick Chertoff, Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian of The Hooters, and David Forman and was produced by Chertoff and Hyman. Hyman, Bazilian and Forman, play and sing on the record. It also features Taj Mahal, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson from The Band, Joan Osborne doing several songs, one with Carole King, and Willie Nile, as well as several lesser known but fantastic people.
Finally, this is one of the gems Cyndi Lauper plays and sings on.

Just aa absolutely fantastic record that for some reason seemed to have “slipped through the cracks”.

Anybody on here a fan of Jesse Winchester, I am a huge fan, may he RIP, lucky enough to see him live once in NYC, here's a clip of his best (most famous?) song, a great one named "Yankee Lady" (not a baseball song)

Just to prove I am not stuck 4 decades ago, here are more contemporary singer songwriter Josh Ritter doing John Prine's terrific Mexican Home and the incomparable Jason Isbell with JP's Souvenirs

One more from the same series, this one uniquely put together by recording various musicians in different locations around the world and creating the song and video. The song was written by Son House in 1930.

fantastic and brilliant concept. Attending a show with traveling PFC group, was amazed on how they constructed covers in there in own way, 5 players all from different continents.

Live collaboration between two great bands, CCD and Luminescent Orchestrii doing a tune about women “advertising” and men checking the neon out.

My favorite Jason Isbell tune from an Austin City Limits Episode.

In order for me to recover from witnessing Saturday's "L" in person---- I played some songs performed by my favorite singer of all time the incomparable Van Morrison singing

"Days Like This",

"Bright Side of the Road", and

"Precious Time"

trying to make myself happy with this one. Enjoy

Me, I’m feeling differently, great version of a great song but not quite so upbeat. Gonna stay away from the basketball side I think but music always rules. Indiana the roots of Reverend Payton, the band sometimes seems to attack songs rather than play them.

love Van, but hate his concert performances.
