Music And All Things BrookJersey (Moran)

You forgot the world’s greatest Rock n Roll band BJR - the Stones. My wife is not a fan mainly because of Mick and their sometimes misogynistic lyrics but even she admits their music is very good. And what a body of work, dwarfs most of the other groups mentioned.
The Beatles and the Stones are in their own separate category. Who's old enough to remember when the Beatles first came out and went up against a group called the Dave Clark Five? Then they went up against the bad boys of British rock The Rolling Stones, and the rest is history. Divergent paths, and one still performs to this day.

I agree with the moniker about the Stones being the world's greatest Rock n Roll band. Superb musicians and great music, and about 6 years ago, I finally got to see them live at Met Life Stadium, and they were great.

Any Dispatch fans?

One of their founding members, Pete Francis, has family with a camp near mine. Two weekends ago he played for about 20 of us in a small cabin for about a half hour. Played mostly his own stuff but did hit 2 Coins which he really got in to. It was pretty neat and the little I talked with him seems like a great guy.

Dispatch's, The General is a great song.

Offbeat, bluegrass cover of Purple Rain by Dwight Yoakam. They played it quite a bit on the local college station here shortly after Prince passed away and I've always liked it.

Michael Cleveland was born blind and 80% deaf in one ear, became a child prodigy on the fiddle and as an adult became a 10 time winner of Fiddle Player of the Year and in 2022 awarded the National Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts for folk and traditional arts.

Amazing story , thank you Logen.

Finally, a love song

for last 10 years this has been my music of choice, thanks for making this available. Just bought tickets to The Baygrass Festival in Annapolis, only 4000 people on the Chesapeake Bay, Great 2 days.

Love Rancid but that's a bit different than this. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I do like some of Tim's solo stuff but I'm gonna go put on This is Rancid now for the office to enjoy. ;)

It is different, kind of like when Mike Ness put out Under the Influence. I love when artists get out of their comfort zone and do it well.
One of my absolute George Harrison tunes (among many) is this dip into “old-timey” music.

Oh did someone say Mike Ness?
I remember hearing this a few years ago and was blown away by how good a song this is stripped down to guitar and voice:

And now for something completely different. Apologies to Monty Python

Anyone ever hear this pretty good Monkees song:

Speaking of the Monkees apparently when Paul McCartney and his band are about to go out on stage they as a group sing a Hey Hey We're The Monkees to get revved up, who knew.
