@NYPost_Brazille: Chris Mullin expects entire team on campus by end of August. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Chris Mullin on Maui Invitational: "It's a daunting challenge, but something we look forward to." #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Chris Mullin said summer has been about conditioning and skillwork. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: And, yes, when I say entire team, that includes Yankuba Sima and Marcus LoVett Jr. #sjubb

Last post points out what we all know. Lovett and Sima are the difference between a very difficult season and a one with hope. Even if Williams, Durand and Mussini are more than we could imagine it's hard to compete with no PG and no big.

Is the roster for this season done now? Is there a possibility of landing another player for 2015 besides Yakwe maybe reclassifying?

My understanding is that Yawke is now a 2016 recruit. Rowan may be able to be eligible for 2015 but is headed elsewhere. I do not believe there is anyone else. I think there are currently 11 scholarship players including Owens who is sitting out, assuming everyone is eligible and no one else transfers. That gives us at least five open scholarships for 2016 with mostly sophomores returning.

Someone tell Zach that St Johns does not fear Wagner and UMBC. It's too easy with him.

@Yankusima: Happy birthday to Coach Mullin! Great things ahead of us these years!!

@mabde33: Big shoutout to the birthday man, Chris Mullin @StJohnsBBall is fortunate to have him in their corner to get them back to the top #sjubb

In Southhampton this afternoon, Met Coach Keady (spelling?) the mentor on the bench for Coach Lavin.
He looked good. Said he was going back to Florida soon. Out in the " hamptons" w/wife etc. I thanked him and Coach Lavin and alluded to a new era with Chris Mullin.
I was not sure how to take his comment...???post experience blues, sour grapes or reality???
"Wait til he sees how hard it is to recruit"!

I think the pivotal difference is that Coach Mullin has been, is and will be connected to the local HS/AAU pipeline which is...priceless.

For those of the optimistic bent (yours truly among many others), none of us expect miracles, three blue chip recruits a year, twenty win seasons off the bat...eventually though

What it seems we do realistically expect is a steady gradual improvement in recruiting, training, "Ws". I think it will happen and I believe our ceiling is higher than if Lavin ( I was a fan of his) would have stayed. Maybe a lot higher.

All the best.

Recruiting is a lot easier when high school and AAU coaches like a staff. And when you have more than one guy recruiting.

Aside from that, it's a shame we couldn't lure Midwestern kids whose dads probably grew up loving the guy.

Keady is nothing if not a straight shooter. He is talking the truth of 5 years trying to lure kids to St,John's. The door is open now because guys are going to the Pro's and they'v e been to the tournament again, but it ain't easy as he alludes to..

A lot harder to recruit when the recruits are at Applebees and you are at Le Bernardine. ;)

Bama!
I think then you'll agree Chris Mullin & staff will be at every Applebee's & Le Bernardines around town (every gym and place there's a hoop etc) something that (perhaps) the prior staff did not do...
I like our chances - no
perfection - but a successful approach lies ahead!
:)

Salty
Wouldn't you take our two recruiters over the prior two?
:)

Chiles and Lavin.
And I'd take them any day.
Remember who they brought in their first year.
Stop the hating-Lavin could flat our recruit.
