Mullin Sighting

What Mullin & Matt have done in ten days without a complete staff is incredible & portends a great SJU hoops future. Early in their tenure, with a lot of work ahead, but re: recruiting, hoops community relations, media coverage, etc. they deserve kudos .

The incredible intangible is just how quickly he has united and awakened the SJU fan base. Of course I always knew I would be on board 100% with him, but it's simply amazing how many fans have given their approval to this, and the emotions about the SJU program that Mullin has stirred.

The best thing about it, is this is not a sentimental hire. We are getting one of the most well-liked, well-respected, and hardest working guys out there. He simply i not going to tolerate mediocre. He has a gold standard, and it's as high as the most ardent among us.

Beast, what do you think of Coach Mullin? :)

Paultzman, Beast, moderators and all of those with insight/clout etc.
Is this a reasonable idea: could we see if Coach Mullin would be receptive to answering some questions posed by this board? The moderators or those in charge could canvass we posters to gather a dozen or so solid questions?
So we will have had our own dialogue with Chris?
What say ye?
Thanks

I would advise Chris against this. But, pretty sure he doesn't need my advice.

As, much as I disagree with a lot of things Johnnyfan states and agree with most things SS&G has to say.... I agree with Johnnyfan here.

If folks wanna pose questions for Mullin, then I suggest it's done during a 'meet and greet' session with the team or whenever Mullin sets up his Twitter account.

It would quickly escalate into something along the lines of when Frank Costanza met Steinbrenner.

"What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?" becomes "Why the hell did you not recruit xyz?"

Funny as heck though!

Well then MJD can we have an all poster meet & greet??? ( I'm not aware of all the intricacies of arranging meets & greets etc) Lets like Grant at Vicksburg ( and other battlefields) just do it!

As much as I love the forum, Coach shouldn't be connected in any way to the tomfoolery that goes on here. He would have absolutely nothing to gain from it.

What I envisioned was a moderator controlled situation where questions ( from all of us) were screened, selected whatever
No chance for " tomfoolery"
It was an idea to consider and if approached respectfully, why would Chris at least consider it. No biggie.

Calipari does KSR (Kentucky Sports Radio) Q&As on occasion. Their rabid fan base lives for sessions like that and anything else they can get from Cal and the players.

Once the Harrisons announced they were leaving to make it a "magnificent seven" (that's what they're marketing), there were 6 locations named for autograph sessions for fans to get a chance for photos/autographs. This is AFTER the disappointment of losing in the FF - incredible.

Coach might do this for his inaugural season. Once board insiders reach out, he might be receptive.

I like the idea, but I just don't think its possible. I would hope the Coach Mullin would have better things to do than to answer a website's forum questions. I understand that he wants to connect to the fan base and answer as many questions as he can, but he can only do so much. Would you rather him answer our questions for 45mins, or be on a phone call with a recruit for 45mins? Also, who exactly is going to monitor these questions? The moderators from this site? No offense to any of the moderators, but that would just turn into a Q&A with coach Mullin and the moderators, because they wouldn't ask anything that they didn't like or wouldn't sort of support their ideas.

That's what red/white receptions and tip-off dinners are for. Not to be crass, but if you want to be in an intimate setting and ask the coach questions the school would like you to make a donation.

However, from what I heard that opportunity also exists at the open-practice they held at MSG last year.

That's true. Hopefully we have the open practice again this year with the new staff. It was a good event and with all the buzz around the program I'd expect a better turnout.

If Mullin does a Q&A it would be on Twitter and moderated by SJU rather than on Redmen. Hopefully it happens when he creates his Twitter account.
