Minnesota, Fri. Nov. 18, 9pm, BTN/570AM

Totally agree. I love this board, and truly respect and apppreciate the diverse, insightful comments, but I think that, like almost every other venue in these "breaking news" times, there is a natural tendency to be a little quick in judgment. Looking back at the Baruch exhibition thread, Freudenberg was being called a true NBA prospect. Now, after BC and Binghamton, he isounds like he a poor man's Sergio Luyk (sp?). Perhaps he is the former, perhaps he is the latter or perhaps he is somewhere in-between. But, after 3 games, I think we all need to sit back and be patient -- just no way to really make an informed assessment about an 18 year old kid who is just getting his feet wet on this side of the pond.

I think he needs time as well as playing time but still feel he will be an NBNA prospect with this staff's
help. I ask all not to get down on him he will eventually take his talent which he will adapt to the American game

I never said he can't or won't be a good player for us. And you do not need to be a great athlete to be a good basketball player. You do need to have some athleticism to play small forward and RF seems lacking there. Which was my point. If he can knock down shots a stretch 4 seems like a fit for him.

And I blame some of the people on the board who raved about him so that someone like myself was taken aback by his lack of athleticism. Would be like if someone sets you up on a blind date and tells you girl looks like Kate Upton when she actually looks like the band girl from the American Pie movies. She is perfectly acceptable but she is not Kate Upton.

Stretch 4 spot seems logical especially in light of Ahmed & SImon eating up most of time at the 3 spot over next few years.

Btw, I am sure you had that Drago joke locked and loaded for a while. Like George Costanza no double dipping on that man. :)

Happy to see they went out a full day early. Especially as this is most of the team's first away game at this level, additional time to get the feel for developing a routine on the road.

Also happy to see Minny's rotation played a pretty full game last night.

Good point & 16 turnovers. Would love to see Johnnies grab an early road game like this heading to Bahamas. With that & even going 1-2 there, a 2-2 split is acceptable start v real competition. Of course 3-1 is preferable. :)

Freudenburg is far from a bad athlete. Kid is actually quite a good athlete. He's just overly tentative out there right now.
Watching the exhibition game he looked like a very good, high IQ BB player. I too, think he has the jitters. He just needs to give us some minutes this year. We have the luxury of bringing him along slowly. I think as a JR.. hes going to be a very good player for us. Not only is he a good shooter, but he is a good passer.

Rocky IV was on and was switching to it during commercials of our last game.
FWIW no matter how good or bad RF turns out I bet he leads the team in another kind of scoring ;)

I think the game is a little "fast" for RF right now. It happens to young players. I think it will slow down for him as he gets more time. Let's give him some time.

Freudenberg has played 35 minutes of college basketball, may be just a mite premature to be categorizing and defining him.

Will take 2-2 in the next 4 for sure Paultz, and getting tomorrow would be nice head start. Oversimplification, but looking at schedule as a whole 2-2 in these 4 and getting at least 1 from Xavier/Creighton is clearest path to 16 regular season wins and 7-11 in conference.

If we are 4-2 at the end of next week, 5-2 in the next 7 to get to 9-4 OOC is very much in play. 6-1, while possible, is a big ask which is why solid showing in next 4 are critical.

Not forfeiting but reasonably assuming 0-2 v. Nova, 1-3 v. X/Creighton puts us in position where 6-6 against the rest of the conference gives us what is a very good overall conference result in my view.

Early but tomorrow is one of those (as MCN noted) toss up games that you sometimes look back at as having helped shape direction of season.

Winning on the road OOC would set a nice tone for sure. I keep thinking back to that early season matchup with Wisconsin. That was a really good Wisc team but we lost that game because of a lack of teamwork/chemistry and it set the tone for the whole season.

Ahmed and Yakwe going to have to step it up

If they are going to kill us on the boards, gotta shoot a high percentage. Gotta be one or the other.

We will need a balanced effort. Keep them out of the middle and hit the boards and we can win. I'm 3 games they've shot poorly from the outside. Can't overcommit there.

We also have to keep our offense high tempo. They have one or two guys that lack stamina and not as much depth as us. Need our offense to keep dribble penetrating like they have.

Per post-game comments, the multi- guard lineups have given them a hard time. We need to give them a heaping plate of it because our guards are better than what they have faced.

I'd add, I'd also like to see us get the ball more to Sima on the high post. He's a surprisingly good passer, as we could run a lot of basemline screens through Sima on the high post.

I agree. They seem to be doing an alternate of this where they kick him out below the elbow and he passes in.
