Minnesota, Fri. Nov. 18, 9pm, BTN/570AM

Think tonite showed how weak we are up front

too true. Disappointed with my favorite guy Yakwe. Didn't seem to have any fire. They need a defensive identity that includes the guards. D was atrocious but worst was the lack of effort just getting beat over and over. Glad to see Sima hitting his FTs but he barely broke a sweat.

Frustrating game because it's one we definitely could've won. I'm still in shock what happened during the second quarter and how much that differed from the rest of the game.

Glad it wasn't a blow out at least. Want the team motivated but not demoralized.

If we don't have that horrid stretch for the last 10+ minutes of the first half, we win this game.

Agree. Didn't get back on defense, allowed them to gain momentum. Thought Ellison hurt us with two bricks thrown against backboard, plus a quick turnover. Both he and Yakwe look like they haven't improved. Only three scorers tonight and yet we scored 86 points. Too many easy putbacks by Murphy and Lynch. Ahmed has to show me more boards. Lovett and Ponds are unbelievable, could easily be the best backcourt in the Big East. Just llike last year we didn't give up.

Ahmed had a nice(probably misleading) box score, but he needs to play under control. I think he will figure it out and give us our third best player

Basically, it wasn't a bad game on our part, despite the lack of front-court scoring.
Our free throw shooting at 71% is fine. 40% three point shooting is good. Our rebounding was fine.
We blocked some shots. We were just lousy on transition defense, and creating turnovers. We only had 11 turnovers

MN didn't turn the ball over at all. They shot amazing from FT line.

The main takeaways: hustling back on D; somehow give the other team less open 3s, and somehow get more out of the front-court, which I think will be an impossible task this season.

1. 23-4 fast break advantage for gophers. Transition defense was awwwful that's the main reason they had that first half monster run.
2. Lovett & Ponds were terrific
3. Mussini was WIDE OPEN numerous times in drives to the basket for kick out!!
4. If you told me we would be 2 possessions down with 5 to go before the game started I would be ok with that.
If we improve on defense as we go along with gaining experience we will win some games .

What are the chances that Lovett is not here next year and pulls an Omar Cook? That's my biggest fear after watching these last two games. Very proud of the way this team hung in there in a tough early season game on the road. Add Clark Simon and Brown to this team with an added year of experience and they go from a 17 win team this season to probably a 23 - 24 win top 25 team next year.

The game was lost in the first half when mass substitutions were made. Our rotation should be

Ponds - 40 minutes
Lovett - 40 minutes
Ahmed - 30 minutes
Yawke - 30 minutes
Sima - 20 minutes
Owens -20 minutes
Mussini - 10 minutes
Ellison - 10 minutes
