Mike Vacc on Chris

Agree, can't argue with much of it Paultz. But I didn't think we came out flat on Sunday, and this comment makes me feel like this guy may have an agenda/bone to pick:
"This St. John’s head coach has escaped criticism in town mainly because no one cares about St. John’s..."
Knicks, Mets, Giants, Jets, Rangers, Devils all stink. ST John's has to stand in line for NY fan angst
You don't fill the Garden at noon on a Sunday because no one cares about St. Johns. Yes this is a pro sports town, and college sports will always be 2nd. But we have a pretty damn solid fan base, so when this guy says that "nobody cares about St. John's" something don't ring unbiased to me.
Agreed. I was at MSG on Sunday and one of the things that stood out to me was that for the first time in quite a while, the number of SJU fans way overwhelmed the number of Hoya fans. NYC is the media capital of the world. When St John's is a serious contender, little old ladies in Idaho know about it.

All the more reason why this latest slump has been such a letdown.

Must. Win. Tonight.
I agree was impressive showing. Think most overwhelming pro ST John's crowd at Garden I can remember actually.

Agree that you can't get 18k fans at MSG if "no one cares". We actually have a large fanbase...it's just that many only come out when we are doing well and can you really blame them? I think the best case scenario IMO is that we make the dance somehow and then Mullin says it's been a wild ride but he's headed back to Cali. Then we get Bobby Hurley. I think the board might be united for once if that happens.

Agree that was the one line in article I took issue with.
Imo, we have a huge fan base that’ve been in the closet for most of 2 decades, but emerge like inhabitants in cold cities at the first signs of Spring.

I saw ST John's play Duke at the Garden the year after the we went to Final 4 in ECAC Holiday Festival when Duke was not really Duke yet. Crowd was 50/ 50 at best

Well chicago,
Remember playing Syracuse at msg, watching them wiping us all over the court, watching the pos starters acting like cheer leaders when even the subs put it on us.
Then to top it off we gotta hear the curse fans chanting their bs.
Yeah, what sju fan wants to pay good money to witness that.
Then you get pissed to much that you feel like you have a knot in your stomach.

Speaking of cold cities hope you are staying warm there in the Windy City.

And we did!
Two Hall of fame coaches on the bench and the guy with the least experience(St. Jean) is giving the instruction. It makes no sense.
Two Hall of Fame basketball players who happen to be coaches. That's how it should be written.

Dude! Stop being so negative...they might be HOF coaches, why assume they're not? You can't prove that they won't be the next coach K's!

And we did!
. . . Eddie! (just keeping a theme going).

If St. John's beats Duke and Marquette he will nominate Mullin for BE coach of the year.
We are St. John's. We make your dreams come true.
Some random morning thoughts:

1. Yes we are in last place in the big east, but we’re a good run away from 3rd place. It’s not like we’re mired in last place, so maybe we can stop with the hysterics

2. Yes we’re out on the tourney picture at the moment, but again a good run and we’ll be back in the picture. Not saying it’ll happen, but it’s certainly feasible. We’re not as good as we looked early in the year, and we’re not as bad as we’ve looked recently.

3. Like many others, I have serious doubts that Chris will ever turn out to be the coach that many of us hoped he would be, but can’t we at least wait till the end of the regular season to call his hire a failed experiment? Don’t we owe that to one of our own and the greatest player in the history of our program?

4. I don’t find criticism of Chris offensive, but I do find “the next head coach” thread highly offense and this point in the season. Again, complain all you want, but let the season play out before calling for Chris’s ouster.

That’s all folks
Felt the need(because on occasion I am right) to re-share my morning thoughts from 8 days ago, because here we are back in 3rd place and back in the tourney, and with the easiest(not easy) part of our conference schedule in front of us. Boy have things changed in the last 8 days.

Definitely trending in a much better direction, but let's see if we can beat teams at home we should beat. The Marquette win can be neutralized if we don't win most home games down the stretch.

The Marquette win could also be added to. Why choose to be pessimistic all the time? You aren’t selling life insurance...this is just sports. What purpose does it serve to be pessimistic now. That is what March is for. Reality will end this season for us on due time. Right now you’ve got a lotto ticket before the drawing...don’t be that guy that says you have a better chance of being struck by lightning...be the guy who has fun thinking of how he’d spend it.

Mike not saying we’ve turned a corner by any strerch of the imagination. The only thing I’m totally convinced about this team is that on any given day, anything is possible. The thing I’m saying is that we should look at the full body of work before declaring the staff and the team a success, a failure or something in between. That much I feel we owe them.
