Semien makes his fit easier to see. His range can cover up for some of Pete, and now he can full-time DH at the backend of a five year deal.

This deal makes sense if:
We trade McNeil - which I’m definitely happy to do
Sign Bellinger or Tucker
If those two things happen, this will look like a great trade.

Who knows at this point, but I see it as a way of getting Pete back within a solid defensive group. Semien, Lindor, and Taylor will be a top 5 up the middle defense when they are in together. Baty steady at third. Probably set up to get a stud two-way player in right.
McNeil will certainly be the next guy out.

But Semien is on a trajectory to be an automatic out and DFA'ed by July.
I get what you are saying but with that 3 year $72m owed he will never be DFA’d. He’ll be our starting 2B until he’s 38 years old.
Then again Stearns already had Cohen eat the $34m for Frankie Montas so you never know.
I miss those bygone days when we paid guys like Verlander and Scherzer not to play for us.

God bless the Jays but I can’t criticize the Mets here. He had an ERA closer to 5 than 4. 7 years. Wow. No way.

Well well well. I’d been saying McNeil is a cancer and a cockroach for the longest time. And a crappy baseball player on top of it. Can we finally cut bait please!?
Not that I disagree but Lindor had problems with at least two teammates including Soto and he was the Captain of the team so not saying much for him either.

Basically what we all know the team needs a captain pretty much what Kirk Gibson was for the Dodgers in 88’.
What was the problem with Soto? Don’t recall that but then again don’t recall what I just ate for breakfast.
I love Lindor, but let's not completely forget that he bought into the Baez diss on fans who booed them.
The Mets undervalued what Iglesias brought to the 24 team on the field and in the clubhouse.
