Message from Lavin

Mullin & Dan Hurley

Many of us got the same message. Let's not make this an episode of "Homeland" for goodness sake.

I would challenge you on that many of "you guys" got this massage.
And the xxxx was more of a joke that you obviously didn't get.

He connected followed me on twitter. Was it sent to his twitter followers? I really don't see why it matters who he sent it to, do you? I mean, are you his favorite waiter at some trendy restaurant?

"Many" was admittedly an exaggeration on my part, but thanks. All in all, I wish Lav well & feel good about the future. Hopefully you can do the same.

I can't wait to see how long it takes all the naysayers to turn on Mullin... anyone laying odds?

I won't lay any odds, but believe me it's coming. It's a NY thing, every guy here is smarter than the next.

The first time he doesn't wear a tie.

GUARANTEE Chris wears a tie. Stone cold lock.
Anyone want to take that bet?

When I started to post actively a couple of years ago, I had a lot of negativity as I saw recruiting falling off and I was frustrated. However, I failed to take into account that Steve battled cancer and beat it. I give him a lot of credit for that. He also did not do a bad job. He got us to two NCAA's and recruited some exciting and talented players. From here on, I will never look to say anything badly about him and hope to only remember his coaching tenure for the good times. I would hope to think that we give Chris all of our support. There is no reason to use Lavin as a barometer for what Chris does. I would also hope that there are less posts about Norm, Jarvis, Fran or Brian as that is all in the past.

Let's Go Redmen!

IMO, Lavin should be viewed as the guy that brought momentum back to the program for Chris to capitalize on. we should all thank him for that

That's very fair. I remember Norm issuing all these self serving comments after his departure and during our run the next season. IMO, just a simple thank you to SJU and all of the fans for the opportunity to be part of such a great organization and school and fanbase, and best wishes for all the success in the future. A retrospective on what he accomplished here wasn't necessary. Let your legacy speak for itself, don't try to convince anyone, because you can't on the way out.

Agreed Jack. I wasn't a big supporter but he did re-infuse excitement in to the program. He also proved, against what many on here thought, that SJU could be a desirable destination for kids from all across the country. Kudos to him for that. Now we need to take the next huge step. I am confident Chris understands what needs to be done and will make every effort to help the program make that leap.

I never understood why Lavin didn't wear a suit. The guy looks good in a suit and dress shoes, not those clunky ridiculous sneakers. In a sweat suit he reminded of the portly baseball managers in the 70's when tight fitting polyester uniforms were in. The sweat suit did him no favors, and showed disrespect for the job. I have a feeling Mullin will not exactly be Jay Wright stylish, but he will dress the part and not look a mess by game's end the way Looie did.

By end of game, Looie looked like he just ran 8 blocks full tilt to catch the LIRR 6:07 to Jamaica - disheveled and a lovable mess. Rollie too.

And don't even get me started on the sneakers comment.

Perhaps a poll on who will be the first?

Can't enjoy this? It may work out, no?

I love it as you do. And this absolutely has to work out. But there will be bumps in the road and there will be hoops geniuses and a few jerks banging away on their key board after the first couple of unexpected losses. It comes with the territory.

There is not much to be said about this hire. It truly speaks for itself. To me the most amazing thing about Mullin is everyone admires, respects and likes him. Even opposing fans - outside of a little jealousy on the part some fans. As a player he is the most widely admired guy in the history of the league.

I think he will work out just fine as a coach.

Unless we never miss a free throw or finish every "and one" Ralph will continue to come through for us.

Jeez I may have to move my seats to the section with you guys. Sounds like I would fit right in. My seats are better, but I have some questionable characters in the area (that does not include the honorable Doc Butler).

Or, you guys could pony up a bit more and move over to my section...

There have been plenty of seats. I have a feeling this may have changed and we'll need to pony up a bit more for the Mike Maher Storm Saver seats.
