Isn't that the game where we went scoreless over an 18 minute stretch? WTF would a St. John's fan want to watch that again it was torture the first time!![]()

Yeah, I never saw this game before. It sucks!
The in-game thread here would've been legendary.

Do you guys remember a Manhattan College player named George Bucci? Mid to early 1970s? He could jump out of the gym.Don't remember McNiece but remember Bruns from high school, not sure which one though. He was a couple of years older than me. He was a hell of a player at Manhattan College.
Absolutely and I remember him exactly like that - a super leaper. Believe he played briefly for the Nets after college.Do you guys remember a Manhattan College player named George Bucci? Mid to early 1970s? He could jump out of the gym.
He was a tremendous baller, and me and my fellow HS teammates would wear ankle weights all day so we could try to jump like him.
Now we have knee replacements for our efforts.
I knew that you would know. Always appreciated. Thanks.Yessir, he could get up and had game.
He did play for the Nets (I saw him play for them also).Absolutely and I remember him exactly like that - a super leaper. Believe he played briefly for the Nets after college.
Am told that in the era you describe the student bodies from the four schools would assemble en masse at different subway entrances and march as groups in to the old 49th street MSG. Once Alumni opened on campus MSG would have Fordham vs Manhattan, NYU vs St. John's double header every other year. Went to a few of the doubleheaders. It’s a bygone era but , Manhattan College , Fordham , NYU were all top notch BB programs back in the day .
Both Mahoney’s Brian and Charlie played for the Jaspers .
Bruins too !
Me too. Great memories from my childhood. My Father took me to some of those doubleheaders.Am told that in the era you describe the student bodies from the four schools would assemble en masse at different subway entrances and march as groups in to the old 49th street MSG. i resemble this remark. Went undergrad to Manhattan (became a SJU fan in1973 when I started full time grad school). Manhattan was at the last stop of IRT #1 line so after spending time in one of the 242nd Street, Jaspers would board enmasse and go down to Columbus Circle and then march down 8th Ave to the Garden (in the street of course). Jaspers then would march into our seats about 15 minutes before tip off. Remember one Fordham game where the News or Post had a headline on backpage stating the Manhattan/Fordham game was a real old fashioned game highlighted by Jaspers marching into the Garden "leaving" the ingredients on the court which had a pint bottle of rye, snowballs and orange Garden floor while chanting The Ram Eats S**t.Am told that in the era you describe the student bodies from the four schools would assemble en masse at different subway entrances and march as groups in to the old 49th street MSG. It was a fabulous day. Got a chance to meet Ralph318 and his lovely family. Will forgive his daughter for being a Villanova grad, lol.We were at JSJs fantastic event in Spring Lake New Jersey. I recognized Coach Panther from a photo he posted with Coach Lav.
Coach Panther then introduced me to the Hon. Otis. I’m the other guy (on the right).
I also met some of the other terrific guys from 114.
I’m ready for the Season with my two new brothers. I’m truly blessed.
Ps. We were all Country Club Cas and I’m wearing my No Bulls. Kudos to the Great Jersey Shore Johnny.

Any memories of those games and how competitive they were?St. John’s played exhibition games at MSG against the Harlem Globetrotters in 2001 and 2002.
I don't remember what I had for dinner on Saturday and completely forgot we played them those years.Any memories of those games and how competitive they were?
Of course. But ESPKEN has a knack for these things ans avoided Marillac’s prime.I don't remember what I had for dinner on Saturday and completely forgot we played them those years.
Then again I was in college too and that was all a blur. (I blame Marillac for that)
The game in 2001 was close. Marcus Hatten’s college debut and he didn’t disappoint with 27 points. One point game at halftime and down two points with 2 minutes to go, but were unable to contain Kareem Reid (St.Ray’s/Arkansas) down the stretch and we lost 75-69. I just remember being thankful the game was played as we were less than 2 months removed from 9-11. Over 12k at the garden felt like a sellout.Any memories of those games and how competitive they were?
unable to contain Kareem Reid
