It was a Grand Cherokee if I recall and I remember him telling me he didn’t need that crap from the NCAA so you are correct, that was a large reason he didn’t come back for another year. He was a great kid though. And remember, he started that whole band aid under the eye thing. That was classic.

He was not under sanctions. He was suspended twice that season for a couple of games due to minor NCAA violations due to his use of a car (a preowned Jeep Grand Cherokee). The rule that got him suspended was subsequently changed later that year as the NCAA realized it was a dumb rule.

He was reinstated both times and finished the season. Eric was already 22 and with the two suspensions was tired of the NCAA and figured it was time to move on.

They don’t make pass first PG’ like Cook anymore. If he only stayed… . In my opinion he’s the last “true” PG to come out of NYC…

All basically undersized 2 guards besides kadary who played the SF or point forward in HS . Cook was special in HS and his freshman yr at St. J ( again im just saying as a true floor general) Bassy averaged 9ast a game senior year with 30ppg(crazy) But again, as pure floor general and setting guys up im going with Omar. Senior year at CTK her averaged 19ppg, 7ast and 4.3 steals( not too shabby) Again just my opinion

Cook had incredible numbers here for a freshman PG.

I think the "traditional"(stone age) concept of PG is dead in basketball. Was it hastened by the success of scoring PG's or did it create the trend of scoring PGs. Whichever it is it started at the point and has transmogrified even further as the world, besides Rocket, moves to positionless basketball where being great at the one or two top skills traditionally expected of your position are no longer enough. Mobile centers, stretch 4's, point forwards, the game is just different. Maybe if the game hadn't evolved as such there would have been other traditional PGs after Omar.

I guess that you have forgotten that UCLA with Lew Alcindor dominated everyone from 1966-69. Three time National Champions.
