Damn, how did I leave that one out.

To imply that Matt specializes in transfers, is doing him a great disservice. Matt convinced Marcus Lovett to come here and then also brought in Kassoum Yawke. In the present class, Matt has gotten commitments from Shamorie Ponds and Richard Freudenberg.
Coaches recruit for need and last year since we did not have much returning, we were scrambling to just fill out a roster in a couple of months. Slice and Matt are primarily responsible for recruiting and we should wish the best for both of them while they are here.

Are we sure the little guy is wishing the best for his associate head coach " while they are here" .. Asking for a friend :).

I guess some transfers worked out better than others

On the way out of Carnesecca after the DePaul game I had the pleasure of meeting and striking up a conversation with Curtis Redding. He seemed like a really nice guy. Also he seemed very excited about the team's current leadership and future. He said that his son, Marquis Redding would be a future St. John's star and would be part of that great future.

Abdelmassah and Rohressen would not be the first ultra competitive people working together to not get along if that in fact is true. What is a fact is Matt A. has had immediate success bringing in players to SJU and Barry has not. Don't know if that is a factor in the current situation within the staff but if not for that this program would have no hope moving forward. We needed to build a roster NOW and Matt has done that with quality almost single-handedly. Rohressen probably gives us a bigger potential upside in the coming years but it remains to be seen if SJU will ever be a consistent landing spot for the 5 star type player in Rohressen's recruiting wheelhouse; regardless the program has to show some success and stability before those type players become a realistic option.

Did he say which AC he would punch in the face. JK it was an incident that marred his SJU time here but I always liked him as a player. Hope his son is good enough to be a star and if he is he matriculates at SJU.

Don't know this for a fact but maybe Matt had prior relationships with them recruiting for Iowa State while Slice would've been recruiting a whole different kid for Kentucky. Does anyone really doubt that both of them are among the best at what they do. And that we are extremely lucky to have them both.
