If there is basis to this, could lose his job.

I'd take him in a heartbeat

Nearly all D1 and most D2 schools require a bachelor's degree in order to coach. The fact that he lied and covered it up says something about his character, no?

Yes, it does. And if the allegations turn out to be true, that he in fact did not graduate from Kentucky, his coaching days are over.

Even if he lied, his coaching days are nowhere close to being over. Guy can coach and that's all most people care about.

No way he is hired by any college if he lied. The negative press just wouldn't be worth it.

Have you ever heard of Mike Jarvis or Bruce Pearl , their transgressions were much worse. They each got head coaching jobs a few years later.
I think SJU should bring in Masiello as an assistant coach and have him work on his degree for the next 2 years. If by that time Lavin has not reached his potential then promote Masiello to HC. However, if Lavin has come through and SJU is a perennial tournament team then Masiello will be in a great position to take a HC job elsewhere.

I love the concept. But a guy like Lavin is never, never going to hire someone who is capable of replacing him. Especially when he is on the ropes, as he is now.

It wouldn't be up to Lavin, this should come from Monasch as a way to light a fire under his ass.
I have been a Lavin supporter the entire time but him taking the FS1 job when he has lost 2 players and has no recruits for 2014 is a huge slap in the face. I have taken it personally and this has changed my mind about him.
