Beating a dead horse big time but Rowsey beats Ponds with a nothing move. This team just will not dig in on D and it starts with the backcourt.

a valid assessment is that neither Ponds or Lovett are very good defenders. They are quick enough to get steals but, lose their man way too much.
 
Lovett and Ponds dont have much of a supporting cast . But, tonight has been awful, awful, awful. our Roster is still weak on talent and BB IQ. Owens taking 15 foot jumpers a case in point... Ahmed continues to play out of control way too much..

I don't think Mullin has had enough time to recruit a full BE Roster. You can't compete in this League without a couple of 6'10 , 240 lbs guys. Yakwe just isnt big enough or skilled enough and Owens is still not strong enough to play good post defense.

On the recruiting side, maybe we need some beef inside. We are undersized at every position in nearly every game.

And, maybe a little more of the criticizing Mullin should be leveled at Stevie Hollywood for giving us nothing in the tank.. Steveie Wonder gave us a lot of crap with Jordan and Obepka, 2 head cases. We have no Seniors on this team and that is on Lavinwood.

I agree, my knock on this team is not the record but rather their effort on defense. Certainly some of that falls on the coaches but it doesn't seem like we have anyone who takes pride in stopping their man, defense just seems like something they go through the motions on until we get the ball again.

If that is true, it is a fair comment. i am not close to the Local NY recruiting scene and don't know the situation.
 
well at least we might have just helped another big east team have a better shot at making the tourney

Mullin is out on the recruiting trail plenty. He deserves to be criticized to an extent but not for that.
 
Team, both players and coaches, need to do some serious soul searching about what wins at this level.
 
last week our defense was ranked about the same as last year. After todays game we gotta be worse than last year

Yes. Once again, his stat line looks good but I thought he had a poor game. The first half was atrocious.

I haven't seen Mullin/Richmond/St. Jean's name on any recruiting tweets recently. Just Matt A.
 
think we should not plat the the BE Torrney what would we prove we would have to play perfect games with great shooting and good rebounding which is not possible Sad night
 
I thought Freudenberg was going to be something like Hauser. Marquette could have easily scored 100 if they wanted to.
 
Remind me again how we beat these guys a couple weeks ago and it wasn't even close?
I do think the grind of the Big East schedule is wearing down our freshmen guards. I'm still confident about next year if they return. But man, Ellison is just such a liability. He's a sophmore and should know better by now. And shame on Mullin for starting him in the second half after his atrocious first-half performance. I'm back to thinking Purvis has some compromising photos from Mullin's past.
