Mark Titus and Tate Frazier will be the Announcers for the St Francis game

For sure they were redundant/obnoxious. But I’m just speaking to the general response of outrage about them.

I’m a very immature 33 and still welcome any 69 references!

Hate to break it to you guys, but this is what the young generation finds entertaining. It's all about hot takes, witty lines, outrageous comments. Really has nothing to do with announcing the game. It has to be tailor made for tik tok and social media. Sad that's it's gotten to this point.

I agree about the social media focus but I don't know if it translates to games.  Those folks on reddit last night (btw I found reddit to be the most poorly constructed site ever invented and impossible to read) aren't tuning in to watch the game and if they are they are gone by the first TV timeout regardless of these two guys announcing.  It should have been a secondary broadcast (ala Manningcast) where they can talk jibberish and at least fans can see a real broadcast.

Then again it was an SJU game against St. Francis so I'm sure there were next to no viewers.  But the casuals who tuned in to see Frick and Frack got to see SJU embarrass themselves!

A stf player scored on a break and one announcer said, "That was a statement on who he is!".   Just as they were cutting to a commercial the other announcer asked "Who is he?" Which I thought was really funny.

Actually thought they were fun to listen to at points.  They acknowledged fans were hating on them and laughing it off.  It was funny that they displayed twitter comments bashing them. The top NYC 5 was a joke and the only reason it wasn't as funny as it should have been is that their lists were similar.

They are not good as game announcers at this point but will get better if they continue.   When/if that happens they will attract a following because they are entertaining.

Let's not forget that Rizzuto would sometimes forget to announce what was happening on the field while engaged in humorous banter in the booth.  This is nothing new in sports broadcasting.

TV play by play is often superfluous because viewers see what is happening.    Color makes the game and that's why Raftery, Al McGuire, and Vitale are/were so popular.  Of course they were better at announcing bit these guys will get better too.

But here's my thing, do these guys even have any formal training in broadcasting? Seems like there are plenty of candidates who have attended broadcasting school and worked their way up who would be more deserving of an opportunity like this. Unfortunately we are in the world where what most younger people care about is influencers and going viral, so here we are.

So she was much taller than you huh. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png/media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png

Beyond the announcing, the game was mostly unwatchable. I don't think it profits our team to play so many pre-conference games against weak opponents, in a half empty, dead campus gym.
To prepare for the much more difficult portion of the schedule, I wish they would play in a tournament and play some road games, where they could get some experience of playing in front of hostile crowds.

then you must love the Kofi jokes.  ;)

I think they just didn't have enough "material" nor basic basketball knowledge to be interesting or entertaining past the first TV timeout.

Considering it was their first time doing it, I’d take it over some of the “d” pairings we would sometimes get on FS2 games. Did think their schtick was also simultaneously shitting on their own product tho. Wasn’t at all flattering to St. John’s, seemed more like a joke to me. But I won’t let that fact it happened to be a sju game ruin it for everyone else (yea right as if anyone randomly tuned into St. John’s and St Francis on FS2 :) )

It's probably the only game they'll do all year and was supposed to be a promo for them.  If that performance was supposed to generate new podcast listeners I am betting it didn't work.  They were neither informative nor quick witted.
