Marcus LoVett Update

Hasn't he been draft eligible for a couple of years now? In the article it says he becomes immediately eligible for the 2019 draft. Technically after he sat out his first year at St John's wasn't he eligible at that point?
I’ll just say this. I hope the best for him

That’s all I’ll say.
Let's see if he quits on this team too

As an underclassman you have to enter your name in the draft. He was eligible to do that.

Not to be rude and my comment is not addressed at you but who cares what this quiter does ?
Good luck to him in Slovakia or Siberia or wherever he ends up but he bailed on a potentially good team
one third into the season and sent us into a tail spin. We would have been much better off had he left after his first season and maybe Mussini or Ellison would have stayed.

Agree Beast. I always wondered about academics with Lovett. The timing does make it plausible.

Oh, no way dude. I totally agree. I'll never forget how he abandoned his team last year. We easily win 19-20 games with him and at the very least play in the NIT. I was just curious what that article said. He'll bounce all over the world. Honestly, he'd be better off just doing a Globetrotters type gig cuz I don't see him having the sticktoitiveness to play overseas competitively.

Thought it had more to do with him not wanting to risk (further?) injury-especially since we looked to be an NIT team at best-since he knew he was turning pro as soon as the season was over. But all speculation at this point and it’s water under the bridge.

I know that's what was said, but it didn't make sense to me because he was not headed towards the draft, and to really have a shot at NBA money would have had to play himself in with a stellar season. Just about anyone on a D1 roster can play overseas and make money, including Phil Missere, who walked on to SJU's Norm team and even became an MVP in a lower league in the UK.

I believe speculation was he didn't want to risk serious injury by playing any more in college since the one thing that could prevent him finding a pro job overseas was a serious injury..

And his father had/has an unrealistic view of ML’s pro potential and called shots on his SJU hiatus last year. Trust me on this. Time to put this situation behind us.

LoVett quit on us. We needed him and could really have used him.

He hurt himself also. Had a chance to showcase himself and blew it. Quality ,Professional teams view him as a selfish, quitter. Will also go down as one of the more disliked players for us.

He quit on us, but screwed himself. He was a healthy spectator for the Duke and Villanova games; and may never have a chance to play in games that offer that much energy and excitement.
