In general, this fight was doomed from the get-go, and never really had a chance. For starters, as other posters have said, this was the fight that everyone wanted to see...........5yrs ago. This was a fight that was based on name recognition, not on talent. It's probably safe to say that both fighters are past their prime, so the boxing was never going to be all that great.
And to add to that, the hype around this fight was unbelievable. It may have been one of the most promoted and hyped fights of all time. Was it really reasonable to expect those fighters to live up to all those expectations?
Then you throw in the Pacquiao injury. He probably shouldn't have been fighting in the first place, but he sort of got caught between a rock and a hard place. If he ignores the injury and still fights, like he did, he was going to be at a great disadvantage....and he got beat relatively easily (according to the judges). If he would have made the injury public and backed out, Mayweather and his camped would have ripped him apart.
For all the publicity that this fight received, it was severely disappointing. I really hope that there is never a rematch.
