Lovett Tweet

I think Ponds, Ahmed, and RF have us near the top of the BE already. It sounds like Matt thinks we land Maker or Alkins . . . or maybe someone else we aren't aware of.

agreed. think he has something up his short sleeve whether it's one of those 2 or someone else

Hate to be a debbie downer, but it could also just be Matt projecting some confidence to make us more attractive to recruits. Whether he has someone lined up or not its better to go that route, I'm just not sold that his statements are anything more than propaganda. Clearly I hope I'm wrong though...

Hello G:
Based upon their significant success thus far - 1.to belatedly fill a bare roster and 2. With Ponds, Lovett, Ahmed and others already onboard, and. 3. So many posters in the know confident a few more top players will sign...
why would Matt or anyone on the staff need to resort to "propaganda"?
I don't see it at all.
You end your post that you hope you are wrong - I think you will be...time will tell and apparently it won't take much time to tell...
:)
all the best

Most recruiters are cocky by nature & confident. That said, MA knows we have Freudenberg in the bag & probably is confident Slice will land Alkins, his signature recruit. That would be a top 10 level class I would guess. Ponds, Ahmed & those two would be an amazing haul. Add a transfer & you really have to be impressed by staff's work. We'll see how this dream scenario evolves.

yea we would be the number 8 class either way its a good job what the coaches have done in the span they went thru

First it's Mullin sitting on the scorers table and now you have Matt breaking another of your taboos; wearing short sleeves. :cheer: ;)

Crazy that we could have a guy in Mussini go from leading scorer to a Marco Bourgault role in one year.

Hopefully this means Mussini will grow 6 or 7 inches...

Really happy with the way this class is shaping up. About Freudenberg: He looks really promising. From those more familiar with him, does he seem like the type of recruit who would come in as a freshman and play minutes over Amar and Christian or is he more of a project? Excited about the prospect of adding him either way, just curious what expectations are for a guy like him.

Have you been watching this year? Quite frankly, it is not going to take much to play over those two!!! They give effort, but like many others on this team are not Big East level players IMHO.

I've been watching. Like you, I'm not a huge fan of either CJ or Amar (love Amar's enthusiasm of course) but more often than not coaches play lesser talented upperclassmen early on because of experience or strength & conditioning. Not the case with highly touted freshman of course, just curious about where folks saw Freudenburg as a freshman. I think I got a good sense of it from you though. :)

Well in fairness the leading scorer on an 7 or 8 win team isn't anything to get all excited about

Probably should have used the lol after question. I know, like me, you have been painfully watching.

Better times ahead!!!

Honestly anyone who is returning from this year's team outside of Sima will have to fight to earn any minutes next year. Hopefully anyway.

Yawke will play big minutes too, IMO, even if we land some of the guys we've been rumored to (or are recruiting). His defense and rebounding will mandate that he be on the floor for long stretches, particularly if we have some of the scoring punch from the outside that we think will come through.

I had the good fortune of having great seats for the SJU/Hall game last Wednesday. After the debacle was completed, myself and two buddies ran into Lovett and T Owens in the tunnel. They expressed their eagerness to getting on the court and helping the team next season. Appeared to be very humble kids and didn't shy away from pictures with fans.

I am sure both he and Mussini will play but my point is coming off this season only Sima's minutes should be a given.

Yawke is good defensively but need to get much stronger and hopefuly grows a bit more. Offensively at last needs to get better in his foul shooting but if he developes he could go from good to very good

i look at Cj as a under sized PF like anthony glover but aleast glover was good for st johns and as for amar i think hes not good i remembered when he faced the zags at the garden he got killed nobody who he played against on defense either way soon enough all lavins recruits will be gone and it will be mullins #cantwait

How do you think Owens fits in next season?

He played very little as a frosh a Tennessee
He will be a work in progress/project next year
The advantage is that he practiced with the team this season
I hope the weight training/conditioning people have worked with him as well
At 6'10" and 185 lbs, I hope they put some good weight and muscle on him
I think he can be an asset down the road
Here are his stats from Tennessee

How do you think Owens fits in next season?

A lot of minutes at 4 and backing up Sima at the 5. Think his offensive skills will play well with Yakwe's defensive prowess.

i think hes playing the backup 5 role which is good for him this year him and yakwe would be a good fit together as long as they dont get into foul trouble together lol
