My biggest problem isn't with the starting line up. Based on what Lavin said, he wan't to get Ndiaye some minutes. If that's the case then we are essentially going 12 deep every game. You can't win like that. I don't care who starts as long as 8 guys are divvying up the lionshare of the minutes.

Harrison
Sampson
Greene
Pointer
Sanchez
Obekpa
Jordan
Hooper (I don't think he's one of our 8 best players but he serves a purpose in a rotation)

-Achiuwa should only come in for quick blows or if there is foul trouble
-Balamou should never have come off redshirt and again should only come in for foul trouble or defense for offense subs at the end of a game
-I like Branch actually but Jordan needs to be on the floor as long as he's not in foul trouble. Jordan has at least 4 fouls in half of the games he's played so Branch still would get some run.
-Ndiaye and Bourgault don't need to see the floor unless it's a one sided game.

Chemistry is everything in basketball. I don't see how these guys can have any when there is so many different denominations of lineups that can be on the floor at any time.

hnk, Why would he even mention that the walk-on is coachable?
Unless he`s saying that everyone else isn`t?

What if everyone on the team says ok Mr Lavin if we`re uncoachablen, then we`ll all just transfer out right now.
The wtf are you gonna do?
Baldi said that this is gonna be a big week coming up. I really hope it`s not the ^
What I said about him yesterday (I won`t say it again because I don`t want to push it.), I think might be the truth.

Mr. Lavin, was the kids at UCLA uncoachable too. Please take a hard look in the mirror at yourself.

Yesterday I was angry, pissed, and disgusted with yesterdays game, but now all that is gone. I`m just depressed. I thought what happened in pitt was rock bottom?
Well just remember what Lavin said after yesterdays game: "Things sometimes has to get worse before they get better." Does he know something?

My fingers are crossed, I mean how much of "badluck" can all of us take?
This is a far cry from Lavins first year.

OK. So here's the thing. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE is complaining how Lavin can't coach, how his assistants (including some pretty heralded guys) aren't doing their job or aren't allowed to, how the offensive sets stink, how we can't cover the three, how our defense is porous and susceptible to back doors all day long.

So imagine the scenario, where the staff is trying to teach these things, and only a few guys are working their butts off in practice to grasp it. Only a couple of guys keep an eye on the paint AS WELL AS the guy who floats out wide open to the three point stripe. Only a couple of guys are doubling down, AND making sure that wide open guy is met when he catches the ball so his shot isn't uncontested. Imagine that only a couple of guys keep setting picks, and rotating with the ball when the first set of the offense breaks down. Imagine you are the coaching staff and talking yourself blue in the face, doing it again and again and again, but the only guys really working and making everyone else look pathetic in practice are the walk on and the redshirt you just activated. So after weeks of this, the staff says, Let's see if our blue chip recruits get the message if we play the guys who understand that basketball is a team game, and that for it to work, everyone has to do their part on defense and offense. You know the walk on is just there to send a message to the others, so he is only going to play a few minutes.

If the schollies don't respond in practice to this, they can either opt to walk around campus like they are stars in this little world, or realize that if they are ever going to make a living at this game, they'd better start playing like top 100 players and a top 25 team.

My guess is that Lavin and company were sending a message. This may pay dividends as early as Saturday. If these knuckleheads don't respond, well say hello to an 8-10 or 6-12 conference record, which they would wholeheartedly deserve based on the erratic play.

lol That`s a funny one Beast: "they can opt to walk around campus like they are stars in this little world."
Yeah stars on a garbage team. Hey they might get they might soon "GET IT" and turn it around, and become a good team. Hopefully they do.
As of right now though they are garbage. Imagine walking around campus with their chest out while saying "yeah I`m the man." lol
Yep you`re one of the men that just got your ass beat @ G-Town.

Did you go to St John's? Or any school with a big time sports program? Even if they go 8-10, or 6-12, about 30 times over 4 years they will step out to play in the greatest arena on earth, against some of the best players in college ball. Yea, they WILL walk around campus knowing they are a varsity athlete, and students, faculty, and administration alike will kiss their butts. It's the way of big time college sports. You think a losing record changes the fact that any of these kids is playing big time basketball? You think girls will run away from the chance to hang out with them? That's delusional.

If I`m Lavin and I really want it to work, I take the team out.
Maybe bowling, play pool, or whatever and watch them have a good time.
Talk to each player one on one and see what is going on in each kids head, and try to fix it, encourage him, or give him confidence that I believe in him.
I mean why not try something, anything? Isn`t that a better option then watching the team go down the drain?
If it keeps going like this then this team will be known as a very talented team that couldn`t play on the court.

I`d love for them on Saturday to shut me and alot of others on here the hell up, and hammer Villanova, and play the game of their lives. Do I think that`s a possibility? Nahhhh not with this team.

Lavin is blowing smoke. If he burns the season starting a walk on just because the dude learns the plays and boxes out when a shot goes up, he's gone a little mad. What I believe he is saying to his regulars is "Keep playing and practicing like garbage, and we will see who plays". You think he is going to declare this little experiment over now? It would ruin the effect.

Maybe take them to Gymboree, or for ice cream? Maybe take them to Colorado to get some legal pot, then to Nevada for legal hookers. Maybe these guys just need to be a little looser. That would help.

It`s kinda easy to be a star on a team if the rest of the team is garbage.
The funny thing is that there is no stars on SJU
Is Harrison? Yeah he might score 21pnts, but on 7-20 shooting which is about 25%.
Is Jordan? He`s probably has the strongest probability of becoming that star, but will Lavin let him become a star at SJU?

Guess in your opinion they don`t have to be good bball players, just being on the team makes them a star?
Yeah ok there

Oh wait....

No argument here. We all want the same thing, an NCAA bid, and a few ins in the tournament for starters. It's easy to get frustrated and upset, but it doesn't do any good, so it's better to temper your expectations and just enjoy the season. No way I'd have season tix if I couldn't do that.

That's delusional.

lol So let the girls flock to them. It still doesn`t change the fact that they`re stars on a garbage team..
Just like Stephen Marbury on the Knicks, calling himself Starbury yet what was the Knicks record???
It`s kinda easy to be a star on a team if the rest of the team is garbage.
The funny thing is that there is no stars on SJU
Is Harrison? Yeah he might score 21pnts, but on 7-20 shooting which is about 25%.
Is Jordan? He`s probably has the strongest probability of becoming that star, but will Lavin let him become a star at SJU?

Guess in your opinion they don`t have to be good bball players, just being on the team makes them a star?
Yeah ok there

I guess you should change your handle to SJUisn'tBACK :)

I know you`re kidding with the smile, but that`s the second time that I was told that, moose being the first.
So in all seriousness, if Villanova beats them to a pulp then I will change it to SJUisn`tBACK.

I`ll be on later tonight to continue our argument pal. lol jk

No argument here. We all want the same thing, an NCAA bid, and a few ins in the tournament for starters. It's easy to get frustrated and upset, but it doesn't do any good, so it's better to temper your expectations and just enjoy the season. No way I'd have season tix if I couldn't do that.

Enjoy the season????? You think if this continues that I`m gonna be all smiley while enjoying. Wouldn`t that mean that I accept this crap?
Dude if you want to accept this then hey it`s your money and your right to sit there and smile, as for me, I`ll quit on them before ever accepting garbage play. That`s not gonna happen with me brah.
Here`s advice to you NEVER EVER SETTLE FOR LESS THEN 100%, if they won`t give 100% on the court then to hell with them.
Not wasting my time or energy with quitters.

They sure looked like they quit @ G-Town, if they quit vs. Villanova then bye bye.

hnk, Why would he even mention that the walk-on is coachable?
Unless he`s saying that everyone else isn`t?

What if everyone on the team says ok Mr Lavin if we`re uncoachablen, then we`ll all just transfer out right now.

I'm trying harder and harder to tolerate your posts. Do you really think that gameday is anything less than the most important event of the week for every single player on the roster? Don't you think they have a hard time focusing in class, on schoolwork because they are obsessed with doing well in a game? I don't think single one of them is a quitter. I just think they are lost right now. You think it's somehow gallant to be disgusted with the team losing, and that you'd only be fully on board with a winning program? Honestly, those are the types of fans that are QSAD (go look it up). They fill the arenas only when their team is winning. The students who just show up for Duke, and then act berserk like they are diehard, when the previous game the student section was half empty. I don't know, I appreciate the guys who have rooted the Johnnies on year after year, showing up in crappy weather, rushing to get work done so they can head to the Garden or CA, cramming down a water logged crappy hotdog as dinner at CA, or some other fast food. I don't think these guys are dogging it, and if you think losing is as simple as the guys not caring, well I don't think you ever played a team sport.

wtf did I post that "I`ll only be fully on board with a winning program? I said that I want effort from these guys on Saturday (learn to read my posts.) Guess you don`t think that after the debacle in Georgetown that they should show fight vs. Nova?
Plus if I was for a winning program then wtf would I have stuck with them through the Jarvis years, where that idiot only recruited JC players, stay on board after the sex capades in Pitt where after that it was mostly walkons playing.
Stays on board after the Norm years?

Bottom line and I don`t care what you say, if they care then they better show fight vs. nova especially after the game at G-Town.
Knowing you, they could be down 25pnts and you`ll still say oh they`re trying.

I think they`re better then getting blown out.

oh and ummm. Before Lavin came wasn`t your user name "LeastOfTheEast"? that looked like a negative name to me.
Now your all positive saying oh i`m just for winning programs??? lmfao very funny

I think it is a waste of time to discuss the players. We have a coach who is extremely bad at coaching basketball. That is the problem. Talking about anything else is like chasing your own tail.

We will be riddled with frustration for as long as Lavin is at the helm. I will be at the Garden Saturday. I will be LIVID if that starting line-up is another head-scratcher.

This is off topic, but how in the hell can anyone understand this topic with multi-quote? I have no idea what's going on here.

What they are discussing is off topic anyway, basically discussing SJUISBACK's fanhood.

You really think I give two blanks if you tolerate my posts or not, who are you to me?
wtf did I post that "I`ll only be fully on board with a winning program?

You should change your screen name
Obviously, you DON'T think that SJU IS BACK
