A quote from Lavin in the paper today said the players are not "coach able", how can this be? what has gone wrong, what lesson is he trying-to teach?

This must stop. Saturday we win and take the cats to the wood shed. If not he must go!

Problem .....it will be another failure and our program will not recover and we join the NEC?

That's not the quote and it's out of context...he said the walk on played hard and was coachable.....he didn't say anyone else wasn't coachable.....no need to make things worse than they are....

From the NY Daily News:
"Lavin said afterward that he liked the idea of playing Ndiaye because the team needed a dose of his best attributes — unselfishness, toughness and being coachable — and regretted that he had given the junior only seven minutes after he made his only shot and took a charge."

In other words----his team was selfish, soft and not coachable! Sometimes you need to read between the lines. But we, the fans, have been saying that all season! The good news is that Lavin now sees it but should have recruited replacements!!!!!

In my mind, you just cannot overstate the significance of what Lavin did yesterday with the starting lineup. And I do not mean that in a good way.

Starting a walk-on plus a recent redshirt in a major road game against G’town was a straight-up power play/ego trip for Lavin. An egregious attempt to prove that he is the “smartest guy in the room.” Which, of course, he isn’t.

It is true that Lavin is dealing with a number of kids whose “handlers” have convinced them that they are NBA-bound rock stars. So is every other D-1 coach. Lavin’s stunt with the starting lineup showed he can’t handle the pressure effectively.

I’m also willing to lay odds that if this goes on, Rysheed Jordan’s "advisors" back in Philly will be angling for a transfer, combined with a hardship waiver (sick Mother) so that he doesn’t have to miss any time. They’re probably working on it as we speak.

Pretty good first post. And, this is not the first similar stunt. Seems like his bag of tricks is empty.

This post is absolutely frightening to read as it may contain a lot of truth.
Why is it that this entire board knew we had to start Rysheed in order to have a chance to win but not our head coach?
Can someone please explain why?
It was not a must win but it is as close to a must win as you can get if we want to go to the Big Dance.
I dont understand what is going on.

We dont need any misrepresentations. The team has enough issues to deal with.

That's exactly what was insinuated by his quote in the paper. Whether he meant it or not and whether you like it or not. Can't cry the out of context.

It is sometimes easy to feel that you can read between the lines but what you think is not necessarily what he was trying to say that is all I am saying. So until he says quote unquote the players are not coachable dont say anything. So to say something that the late Johnnie Cochran might like- Dont assume because if you do you could be doomed lol No assumptions that is all I am saying

It is not speculation, nor is it assuming. He rationalized starting a walk on in a semi must-in game against our biggest rival by stating that he is quote coachable unquote and works hard in practice. Common sense and deductive reasoning, not assumptions, tell us that he replaced an uncoachable starter.

Walk-ons, except in the rarest of circumstances, are practice players, who don't see the light of day in game circumstances. Their rare moments on the court in season, almost always in garbage time are the dividends for working like crazy in practice and pushing the schollies to the limits. Astute coaches give much credit to these kids, who live and die for practice, to get the scholarship players ready for game day by mimicking star opposing players and bringing an intensity to practice because that's all they have.

They are walk-ons because they aren't good enough to be scholarship players in big programs. Many of them wouldn't even be stars at D2 or D3 schools. To play a walk-on outside of injury or extreme circumstances, could be because you found a diamond in the rough.

There's got to be major stuff going on with this team, and Lavin had better pull this together. Soon.

hnk, Why would he even mention that the walk-on is coachable?
Unless he`s saying that everyone else isn`t?

What if everyone on the team says ok Mr Lavin if we`re uncoachablen, then we`ll all just transfer out right now.
The wtf are you gonna do?
Baldi said that this is gonna be a big week coming up. I really hope it`s not the ^
What I said about him yesterday (I won`t say it again because I don`t want to push it.), I think might be the truth.

Mr. Lavin, was the kids at UCLA uncoachable too. Please take a hard look in the mirror at yourself.

Yesterday I was angry, pissed, and disgusted with yesterdays game, but now all that is gone. I`m just depressed. I thought what happened in pitt was rock bottom?
Well just remember what Lavin said after yesterdays game: "Things sometimes has to get worse before they get better." Does he know something?

My fingers are crossed, I mean how much of "badluck" can all of us take?
This is a far cry from Lavins first year.

Depressed as soon as I saw the starting lineup. If I felt that way,I am sure the team felt that way too. Leavtng Sampson and Jordan out is insane and had to effect them and the team. How could they play as a team when they don't know who is on the team? Sampson and Jordan would be in the starting lineup on 99% of the teams in the country; How we prayed for them to come here and now to start a walk on, it is sad.Why would any 5 star recruit come here,if you say in other words they are uncoachable, Please Mr. Lavin change your thinking.Start your best recruits, teach them to play together, recognize the opponent shooters,we are tired of seeing some one shooting 5 for 6 from 3's and still getting shots off,we would like to see the old one and done on defense taught by AL DIAPALO.We don"t like to See XAVIER scoring 40 points in the paint, We need a team that knows how to play together with the best starting 5 recruited and 3to4 role players off the bench
