blow up the top half get rid of the ceiling put a new roof on and put some damn air conditioning in the place. Or at least put some big holes in the ceiling with skylights that open to release the hot air

And god fix the concessions

My favorite is the entrance and airport security. By the way...I'm surprised you still remember the place.

lol. I'm trying to work out a mega vacation that might take out the beginning of the season so I can pull a rysheed and just make the garden games and some away games :)

Vacationing in philly?

haaaa. possibly asia with private guides. lots of logistics to work out and cost and timing so nowhere near done deal but if we are going to do that might as well do it right and make it long one

Uh yeah, so I think the new AD ought to push hard for replacing CA, thoughts?

I vote for playing every Big East conference game, and any of the half-decent non-conference games, at MSG. Make it the "true" home of SJU. MSG is a huge selling point for recruits, let's really own it. Instead of pouring more money into CA, invest some money in subsidizing student tickets at MSG and providing easy transportation between and the garden and campus.

Mr P Simmons
I very much (flattery) like your analysis and reasoning; and for games kept at Alumni Hall let's have two food courts:
1.One got Nathans dogs & Kringle fries, salt (unhealthy but good) and ketchup
the other
2.gourmet
Lobster rolls for a start,
Wine - only red of course...

These are the good old SJU days - MSG, Carneseca, BE or not - we are going to excel on the court, in the classroom and neighborhoods and in the "W" column. Nothing in this here life is " all good"
But where we are under Chris Mullin and President Bobby
Perfect storm and al
Well
It's damn close to being " all good"
No better scenario could any of us predicted

all the best

It would cost 100 million to build something similar to Alumni Hall with the unions and cost of labor in NYC. Most people only see the ground level, but AH is several floors with coaching offices on the bottom floor and the athletic department on the top. There is a decent sized fitness center, another basketball court, film rooms, training rooms, and equipment cage, and more. It's pretty damn big. I think there was even a pool there when I first started, but I can't say for sure. I think that's since been filled in when the swimming teams were cut.

I remember the pool. Used by the swim team which got axed under tile IX.

As I recall, the pool was also open to the students when not in use by the swim teams.

As I recall, it was small, maybe six lanes across. And when you opened the door (which I clearly remember said "Natatorium" -- a word I'd never seen before), you'd be met by the overwhelming smell of chlorine. Tempus fugit.

favorite place in manhattan?

Red Hook Lobster Pound- connecticut style, maine style and tuscan style. All 3 fantastic but I usually gravitate toward connecticut style ( with butter )

Lukes

Ed's lobster bar

City Island just had an excellent one last week at sammys fish house

All 3 of these manhattan places get minimum 8 claw rating on our patented claw rating scale. Generally my fiancee and I get these to go and eat them down at the south street seaport or on the east river wall right near the water club which adds to the clawbiance

I'll send you some Carmel Cake from Merts if you send me that Lobster Roll !

gotta go to Maine for the best lobster roll. Sorta like Pizza in NY. Any little, local place will beat the pants off of anything elsewhere.

So if Google really has inside info, Monasch wasn't so much as fired as being released. If Bobby wanted him out the door he would have been immediately gone. Monasch for his part, has showed up with Chris Mullin around town at various events, so if this separation was contentious, he would not have been so visible over the past few weeks.

As for Monasch, (has there been an official announcement yet?), I give him a lot of credit for going out with Mullin to promote the program and school even as he knew he was gone.

Is that really true? Are the water temps so much colder in Maine or is the environment different as those the LI baymen catch? Are the diets different? I think the key factor is FRESH lobster, not frozen and not refrigerated. That would just about rule out anything in NYC, but not completely since they can be in tanks. I do think lobsters in tanks are stressed and that can affect taste.

There's a place out on the North Fork, can't remember the name .. that has fantastic lobster rolls. It might be called the Lobster Roll, or something along those lines.

We went there and didn't think it was all that good.

It's definitely true. I lived in Maine for several years (in the summer McDonalds will even do a Lobster Roll - but I never fell for it) and have also gotten fresh lobster right from the pots North Shore. Water temp or whatever I could not say just that the proof is in the lobster.

And on City Island I think it is called "Sammy's Fish Box" no? Had one of my first dates with my wife there and always make a point to stop at City Island when I get the chance but usually go all the way to the end for the extra large fried shrimp.

I appreciate being able to be occasionally off topic - adds a little levity etc. and sooo
1.Being out on the East End, and 2.having initiated the gourmet food court idea ( I think) I'll bring some LRs from Montauk
To Alumni Hall
Will take orders before a game
How is that!?!?

all the best

PS another brilliant idea ( one of Gleason's HM ideas I believe)
