Let's go get a Slice!

I don't know if this loss is good or bad for us.

Bad because I felt Calipari was 100% gone if he went 40-0 and would have freed up Slice and possibly Briscoe.

Good because it makes it more likely some guys will forego entering the draft this season which could better our chances with Diallo.

@BrandonTierney: As for Slice...personally, I believe he jumps to St. John's...we'll find out shortly.

Not sure if Kentucky losing was good or bad for us but I hate Kentucky so glad to see them lose.

He could still go to the NBA, do you think they'll win their first 38 games next year? They won't come this close again to andefeated season next year.
If guys are 1st rnd picks then why go? They wants those funds coming in. I'm not gonna worry about if players stay or leave uk so we can get a player. If we don't get him then we'll get someone who wants to play at SJU.

I'm guessing we'll know either way by Monday. He knew all last week, so he had some time to ask his wife and to think about it. Patience, I know. lol

I think Cal leaves still. He's won a title, he's been to 3 of 4 final fours, he went undefeated until the final four - first team to do that in nearly 25 years...I think he still makes the jump if the right job is open for him.

Cal looked like a guy frustrated with dealing with 18 year-olds tonight. Don't think this changes his NBA outlook

Let's hope so. It's only getting tougher with social media and technology going crazy.

As I noted in another thread, he is giving us serious consideration. That's all we can ask for at this point ... especially following tonight's loss.

Let's not underestimate Cal's phenomenal powers of persuasion and Kentucky's unlimited budgets. If Cal stays and he wants Barry on his staff, the odds are he stays put. The first if appears to be a big if, but we will see.

Happy to see Kentucky lose. Something irks me about having a turnstyle of top 25 one or two and done players. It's not a program, it's a stage, a brief way-station to the NBA. A kid selecting Kentucky and staying there 4 years and getting a degree is a failure since the goal is really one and done. CYO coaches have had teams that are more intact year to year. I'm happy that despite an absurd disparity in talent, for at least one game they couldn't win when it counted most.

For the life of me I can't understand why calapari decided to run clock once they got a 4 pt lead with about 6 mins left. 3 straight possessions with a fling at the basket as the shot clock expired never looking inside to Towns did them in.

Yup
Should have just kept giving the ball to Towns. They were up 4 not 14. Terrible job by Cal

I think its because Calipari is better at skirting the rules and amassing talent than actually coaching a team. I often compare him to Nick Saban. Both are great in college where they amass the talent so the deck is stacked. However both have not done so well professionally where amassing the talent or stacking the deck is much more competitive/difficult. Saban had his Urban Meyer moment and last night Cal had his Bo Ryan moment.

Let's also keep the program clean.

Over the past two years, there have been a lot insinuations on this board about Slice delivering brown paper bags with cash, etc. Now, all of a sudden we all love him?

I am hopeful that he comes to SJU. And I am also hopeful that Slice is the guy everyone has been describing over the past two weeks.......and not the guy that was described over the past two years.

I do not know him, so I honestly have no idea.

Calipari wanted the ball in Towns hands too, but the guards didn't feed him or maybe Wisconsin's defense had something to do with it. Start the blame game.

They ran clock three straight possessions in front of the KU bench. That was coning from Cal, so um....yeah Cal gets blame for that.
