Let's be honest.

HS recruiting becomes the very tricky part of the brave new NIL world. The 4 year player is a paradigm that by and large is eventually going the way of the dinosaur IMO.
Yea it feels like some here are still thinking about recruiting like its still the early 2000s or 2010s. The entire landscape his shifted. Good thing is, I think even though we have a coach who has been around for a long time, he is ready and willing to succeed in the new culture of CBB

Guys like Zuby, who have 3 years of eligibility remaining and have already used the free transfer, will become very desirable assets in the new transfer world.

With so many Northeast players always looking to return home after an extended vacation, Rick Pitino's appeal will really be seen over the next few years. Major weapon in the recruiting arms race

I would have agreed right up until Rick became our coach. Now I'm thinking it's crazy if we don't make the final 4 in the next few years. Or maybe I'm just thinking crazy.
Not only think it, will it or any thing else that might accomplish it.

Like having a new financial benefactor with the same mindset about us that George
Steinbrenner had about the Yankees.----YES!!!

Seems like Mid Majors and smaller major conferences will be left to sign and develop HS players for the Power 5 teams which will scoop them up from portal after 1 or 2 years. Like a 2 tiered system, Major league vs Minor leagues. Except for a small few blue chip HSerswho might be one and done or go straight to NBA or G League. Little or no NIL for most until they prove their worth.

Although with the advent of the NIL, some kids will make more than they would be as a second round pick shuttling between the G-League and NBA.

There will be a healthy number of kids who will remain in school who otherwise would not because they get to improve their game, be the kings of campus, get a college degree, while still getting paid.

Not a bad situation to be in.

This!!! The most important recruits going forward will be guys going in the transfer portal after their freshman season.

I think in the new age of the portal and NIL getting crazier and crazier we are going to start to see more and more final fours like this past one. We will see

Entirely possible, it has leveled competitive landscape for sure. But this year was crazy. Fun but crazy. If it wasn't an outlier, and time will tell, and it continues happening it'll make for great dance watching.

College is now an audition. You are playing for your next coach. Thank God our coach is the best in the biz and it’s a reminder 80 years down the road when he retires go big or go home

Unless you are a guaranteed first round pick which is $4 million guaranteed for this year's draft class even before the third year option kicks in, then you will go to a big school for the exposure one year, hope you don't get overexposed, potentially ruin the chemistry than move on to greener ($$$) pastures. :ROFLMAO:
