Lavin addresses "rumors"

Am I the only one that finds it odd that Pointer referred to him as "Lav" and not "coach"?

Not me

Yeah I'm likely reading in to it to much. But at a time when we're questioning Lavin's handle on the team, it makes me wonder if the relationship between he and the kids is a little to casual. Who knows, maybe Coach Wooden was known as Woody to his players :)

We doubled their assists (17-8) and had 11 turnovers to their 18. I'm not sure anyone can say that outplayed us.

I wonder why he felt it necessary to dispel this rumor with so many others he's never addressed ie; the Dlo suspension, weird starting lineup changes and the general secrecy surrounding recruiting. This guy's as inconsistent as they come and The team has followed suit under his "leadership."

This just further proves Seton Hall sucks, and why they deserve to play at Carnesecca. If they are unhappy about it, tough.

Let them get back at SJU by scheduling the game at Walsh gym for all I care.

Zachs article in the Post I'd say

What's Lavin supposed to say?

Agree with this, but he went well above the classic line on this subject. He said he would like to end his career here.

My guess is that, if things end badly for Lavin at St John's, he WOULD end his coaching career here (at least at the major conference level)

"I want to finish my career at St. John's"

This quote was painful. I sincerely hope we do not have suffer through this guy too much longer.

I take his quotes as vague. I don't think he will coach after St. John's so if he leaves after this year or next his career is finished. Even though he said he has no intention of leaving, I think he would of said he would love to be here many years if that was what he wanted. I predict one or two more years. I don't see him staying long being unsuccessful and I don't see this team turning it around.

I don't doubt this, as there wouldn't be any market for his services out of the teams he would even consider.
I wholeheartedly believe he expects this team to flourish next season. They only lose GG and Sanchez to graduation, and they could potentially return everyone while regaining Jones. I don't think any coach would ever voluntarily walk away from a senior class they built to never coach again. If anything, I think he'd leave on a high note the following year when we are due to lose just about everyone.

Consider that the SJU job destroyed the coaching credibility for every coach since coach C.

If he got an outstanding X's and O's guy and he relied on him we'd see a different team out there. When Dunlap was around at crunch time it was almost always Dunlap drawing up the play.

This is why when people say Lavin is going to get fired, I just laugh, STJ will let him coach his Seniors next year, even if they lose every game the rest of the season.

They didn't let Norm coach his seniors. In fact, if we are going to fire him, it is wise to to it before next year.

Isn't this yet another example of Lavin hurting the program? By not bringing in any 2014 recruits, we are sure to find ourselves in the same precarious situation (all freshman) as we did in his first year. Didn't we all agree that it is better to have a staggard approach? God forbid Lavin is still here for that. Then we will all get to enjoy his "we're the youngest team in the county" quotes before and after every contesti

.

I agree. Semantics. If he gets fired or leaves on his own terms after this year ,what high major program is going to want him. He has a lot of money, he could go back to ESPN. Being a head coach could be very rewarding but it also can cause a lot of aggravation.Hence,SJU would be his last coaching job.

I know, but Norm had more time to prove himself. Lavin will be coaching the team next year

Who would you rather be running this team? Realistically? And the answer of anyone except for Coach Lavin doesn't count.
