Lavin addresses "rumors"

Hey, lets hope that Coach Lavin turns things around and makes a run.

They may add a late signee like an Adonis Dela Rosa of Christ the King, who is being courted by numerous schools, and remain in the mix for 2015 Roselle (N.J.) Catholic guard Isaiah Briscoe and 2015 Our Savior forward Cheick Diallo.

I think everyone on this board, including those most critical of Lavin, share this hope.

Am a reasonable critic, I believe, and do share that hope.

He should credit redmen.com as his source for most of his info on SJU.

I agree. If Lavin turns things around, and prove me wrong .. I'd love to have him here for another 15+ years. All I want is for the program to do well, and as long as he's here I'm rooting for him to succeed.

That said, I don't think a 2pt win against Seton Hall where they shot better from the field, foul line, and 3pt line, and where we were also out-rebounded, is anything to suggest a turning of the tide. The Hall committed a bunch of unforced turnovers, and statistically, that was the difference in the game. But I'll take the W, and let's move on

The same could be said for Providence and DePaul . Although they won the game, they cannot come away thinking they should have won.

I watched on TV at the end of the game and the players were jumping for joy but Monasch was sitting courtside without a smile. I found that strange.

Monasch never smiles, he constantly wears a sour puss mug

Or you could look at it like this.......We got out-shot from the field, the foul line, and the 3pt line, we were also outrebounded. But ya know what, we still won the game. They played much better than us overall, but we still came away with the W. It sure as heck wasn't pretty, but we won. This was a game that two weeks ago, we would have lost.

Agree. To show true progress, how about winning one of next two road games. We can't continue our woeful road ways and expect to have even a modestly successful season.

Btw Desco, was that you getting an envelope from Oliver Antigua before the game in the Parking lot?

I do look at it like that, and recognize that that is not a formula for continued success. I'm happy we won, but the ominous signs are still there.

And we blew at least 5 easy scoring opportunities. If you add that to the equation, we still win.

We made a run at Providence but they held on...shooting 24 out of 25 at the free throw line. If they missed one more, we win in regulation. We committed so many unforced turnovers against DePaul. If we didn't, we don't lose that game by 2.

The only thing we can do is accept and be glad we got the W. Hopefully, now the pressure is somewhat alleviated and they can just play basketball.

Time to win on the road! Show us something!

Am I the only one that finds it odd that Pointer referred to him as "Lav" and not "coach"?
