Kudos Posh

While it was a different era and he was not the defender Posh is (although he had quick hands) Pearl Washington, who never had a jump shot either was considered among the best point guards and was a first round pick.
It’s unfair to compare Posh to the Pearl . No disrespect to Posh but , the Pearl was on a different level . End of discussion .

I didn’t recall posting this so I had to go back and see it was over a year ago. I think the context was you don’t have to be a good shooter to be the PG.

Anderson was of the opinion you could win games without any shooters on the floor. Pitino sees things differently and if Posh is the point guard he will be surrounded by players who can put the ball in the basket.

Peyton siva was a small guard who couldn’t shoot who won a championship with Rick
Very true Mase. I also think Posh shot the three better the last few games. I think if you put him in a system with a good coach and structure he will shoot it well enough. Will he ever shoot 40% , no , but they just need 30 - 33% to keep the defense honest and I believe he can do that under the right circumstances.

Yes, I refuse to believe you can’t win with Posh in a prominent role. Wusu too but I won’t go there today 😁

Wusu also but he has to have a specific role. He’s actually a good spot up shooter when he is open and has time to get his feet set. His role should a guy off the bench who plays tough D , rebounds and has plays run for him to get open threes. He should not be a primary ball handler under any circumstance.

Posh and WuSu have very similar games. Both are physical specimens who opponents are not happy to be defended by and both give everything they have on the court.
There shortcomings are on the offensive side and both have similar games that they take 25 ft shots flat footed or take bull rush moves to the rim. This is how basketball was played in the forties before players started taking jump shots.
Players found by dribbling two or three times and then elevating they were able to get easier shots and improve field goal efficiency. Soon everyone but centers were taking jump shot after jump shot.
Is it a coincidence that they both played for the same high school and have games so similar? Both players could improve their games if they developed jump shots off the dribble but I guess by this time in their careers that is not going to happen.

Like with Billy D. Pitino walked in and told him if he wanted to stay he had to lose 25 lbs.
While he Coached the Knicks he turned Mark Jackson into Rookie of the Year . Improved his game immensely and as a result Mark had a much better pro career than Kenny Smith , Rod Strickland and the Pearl . All of whom were rated higher than Mark in High School .
