The kid has a big heart and he gives you all he’s got all the time. I love watching him play. Still I was surprised to see where he ranks after just two years.
One of his great attributes is that he is never one for excuses. Whether he's hurt or back from COVID, personnel issues etc., he goes about his business makes no excuses for poor play in a particular game, moves on and corrects what needs to be corrected or puts a great effort in trying to do so. All players can take a lesson from him.
Top 5 Big East players heading into the 2022-23 season
# 2 Posh Alexander had a stellar freshman campaign in 2020-21, taking home the Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year and Big East Rookie of the Year. In his sophomore season, he became more of a focal point in the St. John’s offense, leading the team in assists per game and second in the team in points per gamebehind Julian Champagnie. He’s excellent at creating his own shot off the dribble, whether that is working in the pick-and-roll or in isolation. Given his stocky frame, he doesn’t back down from contact and is willing to drive inside. Alexander is also one of the best offensive rebounding guards in the entire country as he ranked eighthamong all players in the Big East in total offensive rebounds at 76. He was still a threat defensively as he led the entire Big East in steals per game at 2.3 and was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year watch list. The biggest thing for Alexander is improving his three-point shot. In his two seasons with the Red Storm, he is a career 26-percent shooter from behind the arc. If teams give him the space given his ability to score inside, he simply has to capitalize. When he is hitting his shots, it usually leads to good results as St. John’s is 10-0 in games when Alexander makes multiple threes. With Champagnie leaving the program, all eyes will now be on Alexander to lead the Red Storm back to the tournament.
As the 2022-23 college basketball season slowly creeps up, the Big East will have a bevy of storylines as the conference experiences major turnover. Here are the top five players in the conference for next season.
Posh has a set of BB Skils that make him a Elite Player . If this was Baseball , he would be a 4 tool player . Maybe 4 and 1/2 . He hasn’t had to be the leading scorer in his 2 years as others have had that role . He’s been the playmaker and play setter . He really hasn’t had a decent shooting guard on the Team to pair with and that has been a team / recruiting issue more than a fault of Posh’s . But , it often required him to shoot long range when the shot clock was running down . Forced shots at the buzzer usually aren’t hoops . Again , not on Posh . He will likely be our MVP next season .
