Knicks

Not a huge surprise though as other than his two years with the Nets where he was the main guy on bad teams he has always been a guy who doesn't get to the line a lot.
Not sure though. He averaged 3 with Phoenix the year he got traded. That's double what it was this year. That last playoffs with Phoenix, it was 2.2.

Need some roster tweaks to be a champion.
tough to be disappointed with a Conf Finals appearance.... (similar success...or lack thereof... to St Johns the past 25 years lol)....

to those that understand the cap / curtain / 2nd curtain / etc.... do we have the realistic ability to "improve" for next year? given the draft capital we sent away for Mikal?

Not easily, will take some real threading of the needle type or some diamond in the rough stuff.

True it was a bit higher the last year with Phoenix but never higher than 3 and under 2 the other two good years he had with the Suns. My point was his game as a complimentary player is not conducive to getting to the line a lot.

I do think its pretty telling and not a good indication of his ability to get by defenders as he gets older.
Career average over 20% ft rate and was down to 10% this season. His usage this year was higher than his career average as well.

The eye test makes it so frustrating because he'll even get by defenders, but still refuses to an extra step or two to the rim/initiate contact. It seems like a mental thing too.

Incredible stat from Knicks Film School newsletter this AM:
"Jalen Brunson has assisted Karl-Anthony Towns on 16 field goals in 16 playoff games, or one per game for you lit majors out there. In the conference finals, he’s assisted KAT on one more field goal than Rick Brunson has. Overall, Towns is hitting just 41.1 percent of the 56 shots he’s taken off a Brunson pass in the playoffs. That’s easily the lowest of any regular passing partner. Towns, meanwhile, has dimed up Jalen just twice in the postseason, and Brunson is hitting 38.6 percent of the shots he’s taken off a pass from KAT."

Be nice if the Officials called some of the hacks that Towns has absorbed. Just because he’s a big dude doesn’t mean he never gets fouled. They can’t stop him but I’ve seen some whacks that they just won’t call.

Knicks winning battle of the boards and playing solid defense. Need to avoid another bad third quarter start.
