Kentucky Wildcats

What was interesting in listening to the commentary was they were saying Kentucky has the best defense in the nation but on offense it's not quite there yet. Reminds me a bit of us. Of course, we don't have nearly the talent that Kentucky does or the player upside, but it was interesting to see how Kentucky has been succeeding so far with defense, just like we have.

Like they say, Defense wins championships.

Louisville is a lot better than I gave them credit for. I had them pegged as the most vulnerable top 10 team based primarily on how bad they shoot the ball. But they are awesome defensively. I still don't see Kentucky losing a game. That was about as good a defensive effort as any current team could give them and even if you get some key guys in foul trouble they don't miss a beat. A key guy has an off game, he gets replaced with someone better. They play impenetrable defense and they are not going to get tired. Basically you can't run an offense against them. You'd need to run gimmicks for an entire game and get whatever one on one opportunities you could drum up. Then one on one the guy is probably bigger and faster than you. Decision making questionable at times is about the worst you can say.

Stop fearing KY they can be beat and have only been hyped by media. I hope we meet them in tournament.

Room112, Realistically the criticisms of Kentucky's offense are really weak. They only hold any kind of water contrasted with just how completely dominant their defense is. So instead of #1 they are #15 in assists; 12th in offensive rebounds; 37th in PPG and 48th in FG%. But if your defense is completely shutting other teams down the PPG is only relative to your margin of victory. They are +29 for the season!
And while you could say that the Harrison Bros. are not good shooters. Booker shoots 46% from three taking the second most attempts. Ullis shoots 53% from three. Both of them see quality minutes. In other words, their bench is an upgrade and if they ever actually needed a three, they've got two guys who are ready.

I think we'd be one of the more effective teams against Kentucky for the simple reason that we have more experience than any team in the country winning games despite abysmal offensive performances. If a low Div I team can shut us down, we'd hardly be shellshocked a la UCLA or Kansas when Kentucky did it.

When the game ended I thought this game was a good example of where college basketball stands today. Plenty of big men who can run and jump and defend but have limited offensive skills. Very few players can even be called decent outside shooters or playmakers.
I found the game to be dull because of the lack of offense. College football has taking steps to become a more offensive game and is becoming more and more popular. Can college bb do anything to make it more exciting?

Did you see Indiana play Georgetown? That was an exciting game. Both teams attacked and looked to score. Great outside shooting.

Been watching Kentucky v louisville game. KY does not look so overpowering. St johns can beat them

Yeah, their interior defense is porous. :)

Kentucky is beatable... just not by any team from the SEC. They'll undefeated be until the NCAAs; and after that it can happen.

The Harrisons are not great in the back-court. They shoot it really poorly for all the hype they have received. Ulis is a good guard and he should play more. Beating them will come down to hitting 3s. A Duke or a Gonzaga could conceivably give them a lot of trouble.
Their defense is as good as it gets

I hope we meet them also because it would probably mean we won a few games in the Tournament.

Get in Tourney first. I suspect Ky. would be the last team Lav would want to meet, but you seem to be on to something. :)

A good start would be reducing the shot clock.

You're not giving the defenses in that game enough credit, and to say there are plenty of big men who can run and jump minimizes the quality and skill of today's big men. The guys like cauleystein, lyles, townes, etc are all around athletes, not just aircraft carriers that clog a lane.

I prefer when you have to work hard to score, and appreciated this game a lot.

Exactly BK, I think Texas could give them trouble also when they get Isaiah Taylor back. Texas also has three big bodies up front who play with Cauley-Stein, Dakari Johnson and Karl Towns.

Or it would mean we won the 8/9 game and got them in the second game.

I watched most of the game but had to leave. Kentucky is going to get everyone's all every game.

They just got jobbed on an out of bounds call. Looked like Andrew Harrison saved it before it went out.

Kentucky with the ball, down 2, 18 seconds left in OT.
