According to Shooting Stars head coach Kareem Meminger, the junior received an offer from St. John's assistant coach Tony Chiles. "He was very happy," said Meminger with regard to Facey's reaction his first Big East offer. "St, John's is the only game he has been to since he's been here in the States."

In addition to St. John's, Coach Meminger says that Facey also has offers from Drexel, Florida and Fordham.

"He has high interest from UConn, Virginia Tech, Miami, Cincinati and West Virginia," said Meminger.

When asked if the junior will be taking unofficial visits, Meminger responded, "Yes to UConn and St. John's soon."

Wasn't Facey already at the Uconn midnight madness? I like this offer since you cannot coach height and some of these foreign players are fast learners. I hope you get to evaluate him soon Moose!

Haven't seen him yet but heard some really good things.

I like that we were in early and can be there often as well as have him attend home games. Also like we are going up against CONNU and Florida, those are the type of recruits we should be getting as opposed to going up against Drexel and Fordham. Wait I forgot that those days are long gone.

Leave those guys for Seton Hall... ;)

Kentan Facey's recruiting continues to soar. Unofficial visits schedule to Saint Johns' and UCONN in August. Long athletic/ improving .

Per NY Post....

The town of Trelawny, Jamaica is best known for producing elite track & field athletes, most notably world record holder Usain Bolt.

Basketball is starting to catch up.

First came Samardo Samuels, the Cleveland Cavaliers forward, and now Kentan Facey is following his path.

No player in the area enjoyed a bigger summer than the 6-foot-9 Long Island Lutheran forward who has parlayed big performances at various AAU showcases into scholarship offers from the likes of UCLA, USC, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Louisville, Virginia Tech, UConn, St. John’s and Providence. Kentucky’s John Calipari, Facey’s advisor Karriem Memminger said, saw him last week in Las Vegas, and an offer from the defending champions could be next.

People have been saying this kid is being over recruited, but that is quite a list of schools. Some heavy hitters and great talent evaluators on that list.

Per Zags....

Kentan Facey has cut his list from 30 or 40 scholarship offers to 11 schools and will visit UConn Wednesday, St. John’s Friday and Rutgers next week.

“We just cut his list,” Kareem Memminger, Facey’s AAU coach with the Rens, told SNY.tv Monday.

Memminger said Facey is now considering 11 schools: Rhode Island, UCLA, Providence, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Rutgers, UConn, USC, St. John’s, Xavier and Dayton.

Saw him play late last season at LuHi vs. St. Anthony's (NJ). Not impressed with him; he was virtually invisible against good competition.

I haven't been impressed with what I've seen of Facey. With that said, he's the type of guy that Jim Calhoun turns into an all-star. Jim Beam has that knack.
