Keita Status
Look, Keita is not very good. He's big and strong and he tries hard on D, but he has poor hands, lousy touch, and he doesn't box out. Most of us were expecting more from him - and most of us (like me) had never seen him play before. So what were we basing these expectations on? One year at South Carolina when he barely played? And how many people on this board watch or care about South Carolina? I know I don't. Our expectations were not in line with reality - and that's not Keita's fault.

So let's stop ripping the guy, and understand him for what he is - a serviceable backup for very limited minutes. Hopefully next year that will be his role.

I'm sure he had other suitors when he transferred, and he chose St. John's. So he's one of our guys, and let's root for him.
I wouldn’t bet on a “next year” from him. Both him and coach are about to end this relationship.

Yeah I didn't watch the 2017 NCAA tournament either.

I was barely expecting anything and he failed to exceed even that.

I told some folks on here to be careful about giving Keita props before witnessing him play. I think some people saw a big body and his HS ranking, and just assumed things would play out accordingly.

Not sure about his future prospects, but I wish him luck whether it's at St. John's or somewhere else.

Lololol a “serviceable backup”!!!! Thanks for the comic relief.

I think he needs to be tested for vertigo and other ailments because his movements are just bizarre. How did he even hold onto the pen to sign his l.o.i. with those hands?
