Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

I tuned in and the 1st play I saw Omar caught the ball at the foul line, put the ball down, drove right into a defender and turned it right over. Hahahaha.

Hadn't really seen much mentioned here about Kyle Cuffe Jr since the season started. Checked his stats and he's not doing much at Syracuse. 12 MPG 3 PPG

He really can’t shoot well enough and his overpowering drives in high school won’t translate to high level play imo. Great kid, but better served in lesser conference I believe.

Sometimes out of desperation we tend to plug kids into freshman impact roles and are disappointed. I never thought MSG Gardner ( in fairness injured this yr), Kyle at Kansas and even Brandon Williams in year one would be needle movers. I felt same about Brady & proven wrong and I feel Wilcher in year two will prove to be a capable guard, but not prime time PG, but just my read.

The jump to high level from high school is daunting especially w some fifth year and portal “men” awaiting. Re: Brandon Williams, would love to see him transfer here and get Rick’s coaching, development guidance. I also think unlike Gardner he has multiple skills like handling the ball, running the court and perimeter play. I could see him blossoming in year two and playing well in multiple roles here.

Don’t recall who posted the sad news re: Larry Wright’s son going thru treatments for Leukemia. Figured I’d share the latest updates received from the GoFundMe that his sister-in-law set up…

Adorable kid…Heart wrenching story but hopefully trending in right direction

This update from Larry’s wife

“As many of you know, I am currently pregnant with baby #3 and am due in April. I had my 24 week visit with my midwife this last week and we discussed cord blood/stem cells and how these have actually been used to cure leukemia and blood disorders. I just wanted to add that without your generous donations, there is no way we could have afforded to do this as it is very expensive to retrieve/preserve the cord blood/tissue at delivery and to save for future use.

Because of all of you, our newest addition could potentially save our baby boy. It is hard for me to even write without getting extremely emotional - thinking about how my baby could save my baby. Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough - but there are no other words. THANK YOU for your continued love, prayers, and support.”
