Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

I can't speak for the NCAA, but I'd give it to a kid whose new coach made it crystal clear in the first press conference that most of the team would be gone.
I agree however NCAA says that is not a valid reason for a waiver. Let’s see if they change their mind.

Gotta disagree there. Kids have more then enough freedom already IMO. This is exactly why you don't waste your free transfer.

Just need to have clear transfer rules and honor them. I don’t have a magic answer but to me one free transfer and a hardship transfer however that is defined is enough.

Why only one hardship waiver then? Why not the possibility of a hardship waiver every year? If the NCAA is going to allow a hardship waiver for Jones because of the change in coaches, theoretically there can be another coaching change at his next stop, and he could then ask for another hardship waiver. IMO if you're going to allow the one free transfer, then there should be no hardship waivers granted under any circumstance.

For you Mase (if I recall correctly you often defended him on this board):

You’re correct and I always thought he had some good offensive talent. He finished his last year with us strong and then it seemed IIRC Mullin preferred Amar to him returning. Thought that was a mistake.

If you wanna feel good about St. John’s today, take a look at this starting 5 for our 8-24 team…yikes
