Keegan Bradley

The show was excellent as expected. The kid is a total class act living a dream in Florida. Must be making a fortune with ads etc. He gave SJU nice props and is a credit to the school. I'm proud of him and hope he piles up a bunch of wins in the coming years. Feherty diving off his dock was a scream and he was more considerate than usual. Good stuff.

You're right the kid is a class act!

It's on again today. I guess he gets paid every time. Now a couple more wins and he could follow his idol Phil down the path to popularity. Great for the game and the school. Love seeing him in Red and white. He doesn't have to do that and it says a lot about his experience at SJU.

Umm, the chasm twixt Keegan and Phil is more than a couple of wins wide. LOL

PS when is somebody going to move this crap to the proper forum?

Who was I doing an impression of there? ;)

It's funny. It started in the Recruiting Forum. I moved it to the proper forum. And somehow its on the main forum now.

What is the comparison between them in terms of wins at the same age out of curiosity.

At the end of the year he turned 27, which is how old Keegan turned in June, Phil had 11 wins, including of course the one as an amateur, though no majors. Keegan is working on #4 though one of his three does happen to be a major. One is also a WGC event, but those didn't exist when Phil was 27, though Phil had won the World Series of Golf and the Tour Championship by the age of 27 and those were pretty big events in the day. Nothing against Keegan but Phil's in the Top 10 Golfers of all Time discussion as well as the 2nd most popular golfer on the tour. Just really no comparison . . . yet. PS I've covered golf as a spotter for networks and attended at least a dozen events including 3 majors and the 4 American guys who move the dial most were Tiger, Phil, Freddy and John Daly. Always huge following crowds for those four.

Yeah I wasn't going to consider Phil's win as an (A) but still knew it would be more.

I've also attended dozens of events as the NYC area has been blessed to have its fair share. No question those 4 Americans were always draws. Throw in Norman from an International standpoint. I think Keegan is picking up attention because of his friendship with Phil who everyone loves and his firey performance in the Ryder last year.

It's still definitely early. We know how long it took Phil to get all those majors as well. Point is he's pointed in the right direction and surrounds himself with the right colleagues.

Agreed on Keegan's potential.

PS, winning as an amateur is more impressive, no? and also helped with jump starting his popularity as well as his career. No amateurs have won on the US tour since.

No doubt its impressive. Keegan never really played in one was my point. And then didnt Phil go a long time until winning again?

*2 yrs later. Still it started his clock earlier.

What Phil has been the best is a good question. 20's, 30's or 40s Phil

No question his 30's, he won 24 times in his 30's alone with 3 majors. Only 25 other guys have won 24 in their careers and only 11 of those won more than 3 majors. Now if he goes off and wins a few more majors the next 2 years we can reignite this debate. He was exciting as all buggery to watch in his 20's with his every shot at the pin mentality but he only won 13 times. PS there's only 5 and 1/2 (Vijay) active golfers who have won more than 13 times in their entire careers as well, including Phil and Tiger.

Keegan played a great round yesterday @ Firestone. Bogie free 4 under par 66. T3
Looked nice and relaxed. Drove the ball great and had a nice pairing with another of my
favorite players, Luke Donald.
Follow STJGolf the next couple of days at Met amateur at Stanwich Club in Greenwich. Three
players, defending champion Ryan McCormick, Dylan Crowley and recent graduate Pat Wilson
all advanced to match play. There is a chance they will play each other if they win their matches.
Great accomplishment to put three players in the Met Amateur draw !

Keegan paired with Tiger Woods today and also paired with him @ PGA Championship next week.
Should be interesting to see how Tiger Woods follows up yesterday's spectacular day shooting 61.
Keegan might be able to cut into Tiger's lead just a bit today.
