just a theory but maybe Matt shouldn't be recruiting big men. Maybe his specialty is people closer to his height. How tall is St Jean ?
6'4" . . . a full 18 inches taller than Matt.

St John's still looking to add for 2017. Working on a visit with forward Nahziah Carter and a few grad transfers #sjubb
You've got to be kidding me. How did this happen?
Getting away probably to nice campus in Athens, Georgia is a good thing for Kante. Can't blame him, although disappointed. Also, I believe they were recruiting him before SJU.

Too bad the opposite doesn't work as much where lots of quality players from smaller cities/states want to flock to NYC.
If true just a terrible recruiting job this year.

Can you imagine if Lovett, Ponds and Simon leave after next year? In 2018 we'll be back to youngest team in the country!

Paultz, this is exactly why I asked this morning.
We were all counting him as part of the solution and we obviously were far out in front of our skis once again. Like I said, I'll just wait until September to see who actually shows up on campus.
at least we were out recruiting and not eating italian in SOHOIf true just a terrible recruiting job this year.

I gave you my opinion & never said it was a lock. Next time ignore it.

I don't think anybody is criticizing you Paultz. Speaking for myself, I'm very appreciative of all the info you share. I may get frustrated sometimes, but it's only out of love for the school. Please keep posting. You're a valuable contributor to this site.

This staff is just not recruiting players that want to develop AND be college students. While the blue bloods recruit 4 and 5 star players aspiring to be drafted by the NBA, M & M are recruiting 2 and 3 star players who aspire to play in Europe or the D League or to play for a better coach.
Last year we couldn't hold on to Chris Obekpa and asked Alibegovic to walk before asking him back. This year we unexpectedly lost Sima, Freudenberg, Williams and Ellison with Marcus Lovett ready to leave and there was the possibility of losing two other players.
The possibility of losing half of the recruits you signed in the past 18 months is now magnified by the staff's inability to cover their losses with even lower ranked players than those who left the program.
Next season likely will be the only year we will have Lovett, Ponds, Simon and Clark on the same roster. Not to be able to get them front court inside help is unfair to them and the fans who realize that there is possibly only one missing piece to an NCAA team rather a fringe NIT team.
Not sure M & M can deliver long term prospects but willing to see how they do with the 2018 class.
If they bomb with that class and just hover around .500 they will be considered another over hyped staff with underwhelming results.
The ugly reality is in just 2 short seasons the staff lost its half million $ associate head cosch, the much touted little super recruiter is now striking out with 2 star players and we have 3 coaches on the bench with 2 years of experience with said experience being 2 consecutive losing seasons. Not exactly an easy sell to most recruits.
