Kante Out?

just a theory but maybe Matt shouldn't be recruiting big men. Maybe his specialty is people closer to his height. How tall is St Jean ? :)

6'4" . . . a full 18 inches taller than Matt.

Speaking of which, watched an old documentary on MJ yesterday. Never knew that his Dad was 5'6" and his older brother is 5'8". Sometimes ya just never know.

Sounds like St John's is out on Brooklyn forward Isaac Kante, who announces Tuesday. #sjubb

St John's still looking to add for 2017. Working on a visit with forward Nahziah Carter and a few grad transfers #sjubb

You've got to be kidding me. How did this happen?
How? We are... NO MORE SO CALLED LOCKS ON THIS BOARD

Another lost recruit to the SEC.

So there's a few grad transfers out there?

Beverly, Rooks.....?

Getting away probably to nice campus in Athens, Georgia is a good thing for Kante. Can't blame him, although disappointed. Also, I believe they were recruiting him before SJU.

Regardless, losing out to Georgia on a local two star product does not portend good things for our "blockbuster" 2018 class. We desperately need success next year to gain recruiting momentum. We are also terribly in need of a second recruiter.

Perhaps, staff is just bad on figuring when we should get off a player and move andpuy our efforts in another Too bad he would have helped some but not a game changer

Any time I want to see outright panic over trivia, this is the place I go.
Thanks for being consistent, gang.

Too bad the opposite doesn't work as much where lots of quality players from smaller cities/states want to flock to NYC.

Actually Lavin's whole team was from out of state except Harkless. He and Chiles plan was to sell the City to out of towners not local guys who want to get away.

If true just a terrible recruiting job this year.

Can you imagine if Lovett, Ponds and Simon leave after next year? In 2018 we'll be back to youngest team in the country!

I am hoping Ponds stays four years. I wont comment on my thoughts on recruiting right now.

Paultz, this is exactly why I asked this morning.

We were all counting him as part of the solution and we obviously were far out in front of our skis once again. Like I said, I'll just wait until September to see who actually shows up on campus.

I gave you my opinion & never said it was a lock. Next time ignore it. :)

This staff is just not recruiting players that want to develop AND be college students. While the blue bloods recruit 4 and 5 star players aspiring to be drafted by the NBA, M & M are recruiting 2 and 3 star players who aspire to play in Europe or the D League or to play for a better coach.
Last year we couldn't hold on to Chris Obekpa and asked Alibegovic to walk before asking him back. This year we unexpectedly lost Sima, Freudenberg, Williams and Ellison with Marcus Lovett ready to leave and there was the possibility of losing two other players.
The possibility of losing half of the recruits you signed in the past 18 months is now magnified by the staff's inability to cover their losses with even lower ranked players than those who left the program.
Next season likely will be the only year we will have Lovett, Ponds, Simon and Clark on the same roster. Not to be able to get them front court inside help is unfair to them and the fans who realize that there is possibly only one missing piece to an NCAA team rather a fringe NIT team.
Not sure M & M can deliver long term prospects but willing to see how they do with the 2018 class.
If they bomb with that class and just hover around .500 they will be considered another over hyped staff with underwhelming results.
The ugly reality is in just 2 short seasons the staff lost its half million $ associate head cosch, the much touted little super recruiter is now striking out with 2 star players and we have 3 coaches on the bench with 2 years of experience with said experience being 2 consecutive losing seasons. Not exactly an easy sell to most recruits.

I don't think anybody is criticizing you Paultz. Speaking for myself, I'm very appreciative of all the info you share. I may get frustrated sometimes, but it's only out of love for the school. Please keep posting. You're a valuable contributor to this site.

I think Paultzman should be demoted temporarily to the Rookie Forum for giving many fans here with weak tickers any hope of adding a 7'2 250 lb center who previously played at Southwest Tennessee State who did not wear makeup before robbing the local Winn Dixie.
God knows I was demoted for much less. ;) :p

You lost on the complaint over not holding onto CO. Who in their right mind would keep that guy?
