Justin Simon enters NBA Draft

Wow, that was quick!

Looks like Justin has already signed with an agent and is, therefore, gone.
m

Is that still the rule?
I thought that he could sign with an agent and if not drafted, could return to play out his college career?
I think that applies only if you were invited to the combine.

One roommate graduated
The other we all knew wasn't coming back
Good luck and we'll keep the door open if you want but

Justin is on schedule to graduate this year. Is one additional year of playing in college going to really improve his draft status? I doubt it. So he is graduating and has decided not to use his last year of eligibility by taking graduate courses. That is all this is. Since he has a year left of eligibility, evidently you have to declare for the draft. He is doing what most college students do when they graduate and don't continue on for advance degrees, he is looking for a job.

Instead of bashing his decision, lets try something novel and wish him luck. He has his degree and represented us well.
Exactly, I don't understand the bashing. Some people on here are clueless. What he's essentially saying is he's going pro. What do you want him to say "I'm leaving the school to go to Europe?" That is essentially the case, but you've always got to put your name in the draft just in case.
Don't agree that questioning his decision is being clueless. He has an opportunity to play another year, whether at SJU or elsewhere to improve his game to showcase his skills. Do you not believe that he could improve his game in the next year to further his professional career?

All I needed was an opportunity and St John’s gave me that. So thankful and truly blessed to be apart of such a historic program with unbelievable fans! I’d like to thank the staff and all my teammates here at SJU that have believed and helped me be the player I am today and moving forward! St John’s will always have a special place in my heart! Thanks again redstorm nation you guys sparked me with energy and emotion to give it my all every night! #RedStormForever .. ‪That being said, I will declare for the 2019 NBA Draft. Thank you to all of those that have and will support me through this journey!

Kid is a class act and a hard worker. Has his degree in hand and is going to chase his dream. God bless and good luck to you on your journey Justin.

Mullin gets sympathy for not doing his job and getting canned and Simon gets slammed for graduating and taking the next step in his life after giving it his all while he was here. Blows my mind.

Classy kid. Not to mention a great defender. Best of luck to Justin!

Considering he doesn't actually have a draft status at this time, I'd say staying another year can definitely help. Staying in the gym, working on his shot and ball handling in the off season could do wonders for his senior year and his professional outlook.
No matter how much more work someone puts in, it doesn’t mean their status is going to change. Has Shamorie’s or Heron’s? There are others. Sometimes what you are now is what you will be in the future. Is staying another year really going to change his game and make him more desirable?
