Naz Reid, a member of Sports U's 'Fab 5' and a 2018 five-star forward out of Roselle Catholic, went crashing to the floor with an apparent left leg injury in the second half of a win over Baltimore United. The No. 9 player in the Class of 2018 according to 247sports.com's composite rankings stayed down on the floor for several minutes before being helped to his feet and to the bench.
Reid was able to put some pressure on the leg as he walked back to a conference room inside Philadelphia University's Gallagher Athletic Center.
Meantime, his teammates reaffirmed themselves as some of the top recruits, not only in New Jersey, but in the nation.
"For our first game back together, I feel like we played pretty well," 2018 Hudson Catholic point guard Jahvon Quinerly said. "Hopefully, our big guy isn't hurt too badly."
"For our first game back, this was good experience after we played at camps before this," Quinerly's classmate, Louis King, said. "We played well today and we're looking forward to putting some more work in."
Reid, Quinerly, King, Luther Muhammad and Atiba Taylor were all offered by Seton Hall last fall and have also been offered by St. John's.
"We talk about it every day," King said of the five-man package deal.
Reid told SNY.tv in May that the Red Storm, Syracuse, North Carolina and Kentucky are working the hardest. The Wildcats have yet to offer Reid.
As July unfolds, Quinerly says Seton Hall, Villanova, Virginia, Connecticut, Stanford and California are showing the most love. King noted California, Iowa, St. John's, Seton Hall and Kansas as his biggest suitors.
When asked what schools they would like offers from, Quinerly said Arizona, while King said North Carolina. The latter said the Tar Heels have begun to show more interest.
