Curbello played for PR. They also offered some Dominican players

St. John's coach Chris Mullin will begin live period at Peach Jam Wednesday, then move over to Under Armour event and finish up at Adidas Gauntlet Saturday and Sunday. #sjubb targets at all three.
Nike Peach Jam is in North Augusta South Carolina. UAA event is in Atlanta (within driving distance of Peach Jam).

Adidas Gauntlet is here in NYC at Basketball City.

They were sent to try to find Mitch

They were also advised to watch Addison Patterson and Cassius McNeily. Addison was outstanding in Argentina. McNeily was just very good.
Per Corey Evans:

St. John’s has done most of its damage on the recruiting front of late but its 2019 class could be the best that Chris Mullin has put together in Queens.

Their top priority is Precious Achiuwa, a five-star forward whose brother once played for the program. UConn and the Red Storm are his top two contenders. Alongside Achiuwa on the travel and high school circuit is four-star junior Lester Quinones, a shot-making wing that has seen his stock improve of late thanks to his tremendous showing with the Dominican Republic 18-under team last month in Canada.

Scottie Lewis, a five-star wing from New Jersey, recently cut his list to a group of seven featuring Stanford, Harvard, Duke, Kentucky, Florida, Villanova and St. John’s. While the competition for the five-star wing is fierce, the Red Storm should be seen as a top-three contender for his commitment.

On the front-line is Aidan Igiehon, a five-star big man that many see the Red Storm as the team to beat, though Stanford, Oregon and Louisville are heavy in pursuit. Kofi Cockburn is also a front-line target.

This is the most positive comment re Precious and St. John’s I’ve heard in awhile. Strongly hope Corey Evans’s appraisal is correct!
That said, got to like how heavily active we are for our 2019 targets as well as a growing list of solid 2020 kids.
Imo, it illustrates how critical it is for us to ‘right-size’ our Staff and have it humming on all cylinders.
God knows, most of our coaches are busting it.
Thanks guys.

Recent comments from Evans and Zags clearly show that Matt & Coach Mullin are busting their butts recruiting for 2019 and 2020. The fact that Evans has us as top contenders for three 5 star 2019 studs (Lewis, Achiuwa & Igiehon) is very encouraging. Signing any one of these guys would be absolutely huge for the program. Getting MH eligibility waiver approved would really move SJU program momentum through the roof. Here's hoping...

Per Corey Evans;

The marquee contest in Atlanta on Wednesday evening will pit four five-star prospects from the 2019 class against one another. Team Rio, boasting the talents of top-30 prospects Aidan Igiehon, Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine, will square off against KC Run GMC, which features top-10 big man Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and top-50 guard Zach Hervey.

The two teams will go at it at the Under Armour Challenge, where there will be no shortage of head coaches in attendance. Talk this week is that many coaches will begin their time in Atlanta before making the two-hour drive to North Augusta for the remaining part of the weekend. This should make the Team Rio versus KC Run GMC game one of the most-watched games during the first live period.

My bet is we will see head coaches from Duke, Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, Villanova, Harvard, Creighton, Kansas State, Oregon, Pitt, Georgetown, UConn, Stanford, Louisville, St. John’s, UNC, Oklahoma, UCLA and Wake Forest in attendance. No other game during the first live period will draw more attention from top head coaches.

Mullin will be in Atlanta

Thanks Paultz. This Board has 'high hopes' thanks to your steady servings of 'buzz' of St. John's scouting our top targets on the recruiting trail.
It's one well-coordinated effort by the Staff.
Can't recall having such 'high hopes' in a long time.
Thanks again.

Staff has worked hard, but it will a battle to land guys like Iggy, Kofi, Lewis, Precious and Whitney. We could be in final 5 imo for a few guys & get in home visits. However competition is fierce for all these players and frankly we are not exactly a “destination program” yet. I would not be shocked if we land a prime kid, but it is also possible we fan on all those kids.

To their credit staff has not put all eggs in one basket, including lower level guys like Ledlum for example. Rather than getting too excited about our prospects with anyone, let’s see what in home visits we garner & go from there. Just being a realist!

Oh I agree Paultz, that "competition is fierce...and...we are not exactly a "destination program"..." and "it is possible we fan on all those kids" or as you say, "...not be shocked if we land a prime kid."
The exciting thing is that we're solidly in the mix with a few of these kids and also have Plan B's in the works.
I do not recall that too often in the past.
Exciting times that may become even better.
Que sera sera.

Does anyone know if the Adidas Gauntlet tournament at Basketball City os open to the public?

Per Court Cred:
Duke, UNC, Florida, Pitt, St Johns, UGA, Louisville all on Court 7 for Team Rio & KC GMC. Scottie Lewis just closed out the 3rd with a flurry of smart plays. His ball skills & feel for the game are in 10 right now #UAchallenge
