Jim Larranaga to Step Down

Did/does Miami hoops have a GM? Feel like having the right infrastructure in place, like we do, should help with the burning out of these coaches.

Honestly, I can even see pro coaches (or, even better, those who've done both) be able to (re)adjust to the college game even easier under NIL

Pitino alluded to another issue earlier this year though, which was keeping the families happy once the players are on board, something he didn't recall having to deal with. Can't be fun

No way all those guys have expressed interest. Maybe the other way around
Be very surprised if Cooley or Shrewsberry have “expressed interest”. The tweet claims this would be an “in season” move meaning right away. Sure if you get the job it’s “unethical”. That’s the world we live in. But you still get paid.

Both these guys are only a year in on their current job. Don’t get the Miami job and get found out those schools could fire either one of them and refuse to pay them depending on how the contracts are written. No Current job, no Miami job and you’re out of work with a bad reputation for shopping in season. Seems risky way to do business to me.

For what he makes, suck it up Rick. 😎
My take is that Rick was using a public statement to tell as few as one parent to stfu and let him coach. Coaches have this issue before - in my memory Fraschilla told a mother!, "Your son's not playing because he's not as good as the guy in front of him." Now, rather than be confrontational, Rick puts out something on social media.

When I had a disruptive covert situation I'd address it in an email to all employees, ending it with, "If you think this is about you, it probably is."

For Larranaga to quit mid-season points to more going on. Coach K said at the end he still loved coaching but lost interest in all the game prep watching video. At 75, NIL complicates it a lot. And honestly, some guys that age still have a lot of energy, others need 2 naps during the day and still a 9 o'clock game seems way too late.

I'd bet money Pitino is going nowhere but when it's time he will quit at the end of a season if he doesn't fulfill his contact. Never say never but SJU is a perfect situation for him and it's clear he loves being in NYC.

I suspect we are going to see a lot of this moving forward. Wholesale roster changes are already the norm. CB is like the Wild West. Very few rules with wide open free agency EVERY season.

Personally I like “the games” themselves. However, I feel like this is a less talented mini NBA without the guardrails. Either you can “like the games” or it won’t be enough. Some schools will have no chance to compete. Maybe they never did but this is no longer an amateur charade.

30 day Portal Window now open for Miami players.

A lot of major programs are at thr e13 scholarship limit be interesting to see what teams have available schollies and can take a player mid-year.
Not sure what the benefit is for their players to transfer mid year aside from a few months of practicing with their new team.

Anybody that’s already played can’t play for another team this season and won’t get the year of eligibility back so why not just keep playing at Miami for a couple more months and then transfer with everyone else in March

No respect for anyone who quits mid season unless it's a health reason
Assuming it really was on his own and not forced, definitely agree. If so, should have stuck out for 10 weeks and hold true to what all these coaches preach about leading and building men and dealing with adversity and not quitting. NIL era or not, should hold true if he believes it. Same goes for Bennett.
