Jay Wright to retire. Kyle Neptune from Fordham likely to takeover

Just stunned.

And wouldn't you know Fordham finally has the right coach and they are going to lose him.

What an opportunity for several prigrams to regain National prominence and get a top foothold in the BE......
The balance of power in the Big East is about to change. Wright is one of the all time greats, and not easily replaced.

Villanova is replacing the Big East’s version of Jupiter with Neptune.
Following a legend is never easy. The first three game losing streak and their fans will become very testy.

I just don't see Wright retiring at 60 to grow vegetables or conduct clinics. He is like many coaches: a type A who cannot just walk away to a quiet life. Something has to be in the works.

I wonder how long ago Wright and Neptune knew this would be the last hurrah. Did he urge Neptune to find the crappiest job possible to remove the training wheels before taking over?

Heard from good friend who is Nova booster that its family driven. Definitely not NBA.
Hard for these guys who are that successful to step away from what they've done forever. But I get it. He has set up his family for generations financially. Can spend the rest of his life maintaining (or even improving) his health, low-stress, live life to the fullest, etc. Still, hard for some of these great ones to step away for long.

Wright should take a couple of years and come back and coach a different Philly Big 5 school.
The Villanova fans have been spoiled, and need some humility with a reminder they are only a Steve Lappas hire away from mediocrity.
Philly big 5 or NCAA big 5?

Just to give everyone a sense of how long Jay Wright has been at Nova, he outrecruited Mike Jarvis to land Jason Fraser.
