Jay Wright to retire. Kyle Neptune from Fordham likely to takeover

???????????

Hopefully it is burn out and not health related.

Wow, just WOW!!!!

Huge blow for Nova and the Big East if this comes to fruition.

Wow that’s obviously the biggest news of the off-season. Wonder if he doesn’t like the direction of college basketball with the NIL and free agency stuff. Hopefully it’s not a health issue. If he’s healthy wouldn’t be surprised to see him take a crack at the NBA in the right situation

Wow, by far the conference's top coach and most successful one at that. Maybe he's just had enough, we all do retire one day. Between the pressure of the job, the transfer portal, the NIL, the player handlers etc. all that can contribute in taking the joy out the job.Would fit right into Lavin's spot at Fox Sports if he chooses to do so. I wish him well as he is largely responsible for keeping the Big East relevant over the past decade or so.

Doc is leaving Sixers for Lakers after the playoffs. Wonder if Wright is moving to Sixers.

Good call. There were rumors years ago that Wright would only leave Villanova for the Knicks.
Since the Knicks still cannot get out of their own way, maybe Wright looks at this as his last/best shot to coach in the NBA.

I would bet large amounts of money I don’t have that he will coach again. Easiest way to leave nova with legend status without taking another job. Then he’ll be mentioned with every single job in both the NBA and college for years to come.

Wonder if this was in the works or if Nova prepared for this? Neptune seems like a really solid hire and a good call to replace Wright. What are the odds they don’t miss a beat w the staff he assembles/holds on too

Stunning news, if true. Nothing but respect for what Jay Wright has done at Villanova.

Not sure what to make of this. I assume he didn't get caught gambling or dating a student, and hopefully not health. Looks pretty good and healthy for a 60-year-old, so hopefully nothing more than wanting to spend the next 20+ years waking up next to his wife every day.

Just stunned.

And wouldn't you know Fordham finally has the right coach and they are going to lose him.

What an opportunity for several prigrams to regain National prominence and get a top foothold in the BE......
