What you don’t seem to understand is that just because you can play professional sports, at 16, 18 or 19 does not mean you have the financial knowledge to know what to do with your new found millions, which I would have pissed away no doubt at that age. The point was an 18 year old lacks a great deal of maturity , financial and otherwise, I know I certainly did.
As for Colin Kapaernick I am sure many an athlete did not side with him publicly for fear of financial repercussions, the same with many of us who sit quiet during office, team, church, synagogue and/or political meetings as we don’t want to rock the boat for fear of a host of different possible repercussions.

I never said an 18 year old has the skill or intelligence to be a financial analyst. Athletes have agents and financial advisors. One of my best friends from high school joined the Marines out of high school and sacrificed his life at age 19 in Vietnam. My only intention was to show the irony of people who treat athletes as more special than your average student while in college who have to work to put themselves through school and have adult responsibilities.

As for Colin K, I respectfully disagree with yours and Panther's views of this athlete.
While I find it commendable that he became active in a social cause du jour in 2016, he showed no penchant for social justice until he started dating Nessa Diab in 2015.
Ms. Diab's parents are Egyptian Arab Muslims and she has had a tremendous influence over Colin and his views of America. The Baltimore Ravens considered signing Kaepernick as a backup to starting quarterback Joe Flacco before the 2017 season. According to former Raven Ray Lewis, the team did not go through with this after Kaepernick's girlfriend Nessa Diab made comparisons of Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti to a slave owner, and Lewis his slave, in a tweet. The irony was that Bisciotti and Kaepernick share Italian blood lineage as Colin's birth mother is Italian. Coincidentally with Colin dating Nessa in 2015 his mediocre season led him to ask to be traded. In 2016 he has three surgeries that hampered his comeback and was not being considered as a starter for the season.
The timing of his "activism" coincided with the above personal events. The fact that he wore socks afterwards that said "COPS ARE PIGS" made him a persona non grata to a large portion of football loving Americans.
As for young black men being killed by guns I am still waiting for a intensive national movement to end that chain of violence.
I hope this ends this off topic discussion in the Jay Wright thread.
