I just heard a discussion on TV that now that Brunson is going to the Knicks that a Jay Wright signing may be imminent. Thoughts?

Knicks still have a head coach, right? I doubt Jay retired to go be an assistant in the NBA.

Great off-season topic to discuss, but why go to the graveyard of basketball? RJ Barrett the only consistent starter on a team in a league that minimum needs two superstars on a winning team.

But, a great off season topic

Why take the Knick job?
1 Salary of ten million a year for five years
2 Condo over looking Central Park
3 Access to all Broadway shows and NY restaurants
4 Availability for all events at MSG
5 Enjoying NYs cultural events
6 After three years and the Knicks are still floundering you take Dolans
money and have your pick of a plumb college job

I think Jay just wants to chill. Give him a year or 2 and he'll be chomping to get back but not in college

Someone close to the Nova program told me recently that Jay Wright left this year for a very personal family health issue.
Basketball is the last thing on his mind right now and I doubt he'll ever be interested in the grind of professional basketball after this current situation.

If money was the controlling factor in Coach Wright’s decision making then he would have bolted Villanova years ago.

I doubt Coach Wright ever coaches again, but I believe there is (albeit a slim but) better chance he returns to coach at Villanova or coaches at D3 Cabrini College (see Jim Calhoun) than him coaching at another big D1 program or in the NBA

guys I'm not sure why he left Beast knows more than all of us but if he left for the reason I think he did then this point is moot he'a not going to the knicks. Jay has never been about money he has always been about quality of life bu I haven't personally talked to him in a long time but I doubt he has changed

Now that Lavin is back in coaching, I'm sure there is a seat waiting for Jay in broadcasting at Fox (or anywhere).

If he were looking to leave a school he loved for greener pastures, the best way to do that without devastating a fan base is to first make a pitstop with a crap NBA team instead of going straight from Villanova to another school.

But that's not what happened here. Jay is done. There's only one scenario in which I think he'd ever coach again, but I don't want to see it happen.

Is there a reason why Beast of the East stopped posting entirely on this forum?
Jay left for family reasons and money is the least of his needs.

I think Beast will come back eventually after our last loss of the season last year some posters got real personal with knocks on some of the players and that bothered him a lot so he decided it was better to take a break rather than go after the posters who were being really harsh on the players and just create a more hostile environment

Thank you for the clarification. Discussing sports can be confrontational for some if they personalize the critiques of players and coaches. But let's admit that this is no longer the issue of school spirit in support of college "kids". The players are all adults who now leverage any school loyalty with professional aspirations with NIL deals. The days of the 4 year players are over. Your best players will leave in a NY minute for better deals.
Same with coaches.
This is a different college basketball world. You need stronger stomachs to tolerate its commercialization.
You need look at just the football alliances to know it will get more cutthroat and some schools will come to the realization that, like the rest of the civilized world, commercialization of sports is not collegiate and they may be forced to eliminate sports entirely rather than compete in a monopolized cartel of mostly football schools serving as NFL minor leagues.

Speaking of coaches looking for NBA jobs, I hear that former Seton Hall Coach PJ Carlesimo is still trying to get back into college coaching. With your permission of course MJM... :). Ahhhhhh the good old days.
