James Scott visiting SJU

Seeing Chicago Days post that Ponds made 51 per cent of his two point attempts while having the ability to create space to get those shots and being an excellent free throw shooter to booth tells me he took way too many threes last year.
He had a great year but he could improve his game considerably next year by concentrating on those 15 to 18 ft shots if not getting to the rim.
I liked James Scott. Would be happy to have his son.
James Scott was money.
Owens' father mentioned how the offense is guard oriented, and Tariq would not get enough touches.
Owens father would complain about the lack of touches Tariq got in the men's room at the Port Authority. He's delusional.

Apologize!
Where the heck are you getting your stats from, the White House?
Ha, now that’s a fantasy!

Shamorie shot 25% from 3-pt range. Honest! I think it was Beastie who said Shamorie had an ‘off’ shooting year and should be better next year. I agree with that. Shamorie’s injuries, and the LoVett dysfunction—that the whole team had to cope with and overcome—were some of the reasons.
Here’s hoping he returns and goes out a 1st Round NBA pick.

I haven’t accessed any video clips on James Scott at Kennesaw State. Think there’s a HS clip I haven’t watched. But he’s listed as a 6’5” guard, but was 6’3” in HS (maybe 6’4”).
Great #s this season as a Sophomore at Kennesaw, doubling his production as a freshman: 17 ppg, 34% 3-pt %, 46% from 2-pt range, 80% FT %, had a negative Assist/TO ratio but also had 50 steals.
Great timing for the 2019-20 season—although our biggest needs for next year, as we all lament, are Big Guys.
But would luv to get him. A legacy get of a very good former Johnnie.
Here’s hoping.
... DO NOT NO ANYTHING ABOUE HIM would he fit
Congratulations, usguard. Didn't know you had mastered Portuguese.:)

just saw 2 James Scott clips. One from HS and a scintillating exhibit this year versus several majors, including Tx Tech. Kid is quick—looks much quicker than he was in HS and taller.
I wish I knew how to do the links, but I’m a tech dinosaur.
Very sweet shooter from inside the arc and beyond it, both off the dribble and from a pass. And seems a very good finisher inside.
Hope we get him.
Although we need those bigs...!

Seems like a no-brainer to me. Sits a year and has to go up against Ponds (hopefully), Simon, and Dixon in practice. And if he's really 6'5" could slip into Clark's position if you want to run three-guard set in 2019-20.

YEA , I did not even no I knew Portuguese Thanks for the laugh MY typing was never good but my eyesight has been getting worse . Guess, that's what I get for getting old. But it beats the alternative BEST IS YOU UNDERSTOOD IT LOL

Good to see it was taken in the spirit that was meant. ... And by the way, I do think there might be some Portuguese words mixed in there. It's a crazy language. :) (Empathize 100% with growing old.)

Moving from a program from a low major conference to the Big East can be tricky. Some players are better equipped for the jump in talent level than others. Mikey Dixon will be doing this and although his numbers are a little bit better (specifically shooting %) than Scott's it is not a dissimilar move in terms of a jump. A comparison between Scott's sophomore season with Dixon's Freshman season shows what they were able to do at a lower level (see stats below).

That all said it is hard to know with certitude how this will work out. As an example we sent a guard the other direction about eight years ago. While Quincy Roberts had a somewhat non-distinguished career at St. John's, once he transferred to Grambling he became one of the top scorers in the nation (see link below). Would he have blossomed into a scorer like that at St. John's? I don't believe so. I believe his boost in performance was mostly about getting more minutes against a weaker level of competition.

One positive about Scott coming here is that we have not been able to recently attract legacy players (Barrett, Rowan, Mineland etc.) maybe Scott will start a trend. Can anyone say Precious Achiuwa!!

Lastly I am also posting a link below to a Rumble In the Garden article with some nice highlight videos of Mr. Scott in college and in high school.

Great post, ghost. I have no clue if the MAAC or the ASUN Conference was a higher level of competition, or whether Quinnipiac or Kennesaw played the tougher OOC schedule.
By your great #s, Dixon gets the edge on shooting as well as A/TO ratio, but Scott’s 50 steals ‘trumps’ Dixon’s 23–which may attest to Scott’s speed.
Both Dixon and Scott were 2*s out of HS.
Mikey from DE; James from Jersey.
We shall see IF we prove sufficiently lucky to sign Mr. Scott.

I say lock this kid up if possible. Don't worry about him sitting out we will have plenty of scholarships after we lose half our team this off season.
In my mind we've offered and he signed already.
Would be a very nice ‘get’. Very quick, skilled, guard—and getting better. And a legacy. Sweet—if it happens.

Don't mind this legacy but he better be the only sit out transfer. Just wondering how much the staff has scouted him and why he wasn’t on the radar before to begin with since he is a sophomore.

2 star out of HS wasn't on many people's radar which is probably why he landed at Kennesaw Mountain Landis. May just be one of those late bloomers (just hope he doesn't wear them).
