James Jones - Yale Coach
The names keep getting worse and worse.

Go with who Cragg wants (Cluess). Is the school seriously too poor to get him?
Scheyer is looking pretty damn good right about now.

Has to be a way to get the buyout waived. Maybe agree to schedule them for the next 4 years?

I know Ronald Reagan while speaking at SJU in 1985 spoke about a "new Harvard," but this is ridiculous.

There is a line where I cancel my tickets. I can’t decide if it’s hiring this guy or if it was already crossed by interviewing him.

Nicely done John Mar, best Woody Woodpecker episode ever.
Great guy, smooth talker, ok coach. The job is way too big for him.
I went to school with his brother Joe and know him well, who now coaches at Boston U. The Jones are a basketball family and are great guys but agree the job is probably too big for him. Even as a friend of the Jones's, i would look elsewhere.

First thing that popped in my head. Amazing the things that get buried in the brain.

Do Bert and Ernie realize that by helping these other coaches get raises because they flirted with SJU we don't get like a commission or finders fee?
I'm laughing out loud at some of these comments this morning, but I know I should actually be crying.

There's no freaking way Cragg took this job thinking this was his pool of candidates. It's like they take $100,000 away from his budget with each passing day. At this rate just give the job to Kevin Boyle
what about Kevin James ? He’s the King of Queens

Just part of the Vincentian Mission

He's worth way more than Mullin, so just imagine how much less work he'd put in on the recruiting trail. Wouldn't mind seeing his wife in the stands, though.

Everyone laughed when I said Shaheen Holloway, well we are one rejection away! Now can we pry him from St. Peter’s?

I wouldn't have laughed first time around, but would have looked elsewhere. Now with these names floating around I'd sign up for him in a heartbeat.

Question - and I'm not advocating for this - but if it really has gotten this bad, does it make sense to consider a true upside play that has not demonstrated a readiness at this level, and as a result of that risk taken SJU gets favorable out after 2-3 years so that we don't have to wait 4-5 if it's a flop?

Thinking a Baker Dunleavy type. If it works, fantastic you got an up and comer before others were onto him. If it doesn't was low risk, and can't imagine the optionality would be much worse in 2-3 years than it is at this moment. Maybe could even try to create and address the vacancy in under a month next time.

I like Shaheen. Plenty of upside and good recruiter. I don’t get the James Jones idea. He’s been at this job for 20 years and hasn’t made big news. I get that there’s no recruiting but then I’d expect to see a candidate that has been winning the Ivy consistently.
