Jamal Branch

My sources tell me the eye was badly damaged but he has no desire to wear a contact lens. On the bright side, the monocle he'll be sporting in the next game will add to his panache.

Just when he gets playing time and he gets his eye poked severely. You can't make this stuff up.

... I thought I heard he just had laser surgery on tv .... And crystal clear vision takes weeks if not months.....

On TV? What channel?

On the serious side, here's hoping he heals quickly. Aside from the obvious reason -- it's all about the young man's health -- I'm selfish enough to admit that I also want him to heal quickly because we desperately need him if we're to be successful in the BE. Love Greene's heart, but he's not a PG, as was obvious in the last two games.

Pretty sure it was during his first game and the announcers mentioned it

LASIK vision improvement time is 2 days to 6 months. Most of the time it improves in a few days though.

If it's Lasik he needs, my 85 yr old grandmother had that and was fine the next day.

I thought announcers said he had LASIK like 2 days prior but got eye injured in practice.

It's not rocket science when evaluating a player. Some people have different preferences when doing so. He takes horrible shots and is way too sloppy with the ball. His turnovers were mostly due to his inability to protect the ball on the bounce. And quite frankly I'm surprised nobody raised an eyebrow to his tech. He threw a guy on the floor well after the play was over. It was a scummy move. Told me all I need to know about him and yes it did cost us the game. You guys are middling around blaming young men for mistakes they made while hustling for rebounds or attempting fts. I'm blaming a guy who is a dirty player and a bad reflection on the program. Think it's a clear cut argument

This has to be the best of the garbage posted here over the last few weeks.

First of all, there a number of things that cost us the game, you can blame any single play in a close game as the game changer. To single out one play and deeming it the one that cost us simply because it was dirty is not a strong/valid argument. I can make an argument that Garret's foul cost us the game. Or Jakarr's poor peformance. Almost anything can be blamed for a game tied after 40 minutes. One shot. Nova misses one shot they made, or we make one shot we missed, and we are winners. So it is pointless to blame a technical in the 1st half by the way, as the one that sunk us. Secondly, I understand if you don't like Branch's style or skillset, but you need to understand we have no other options. Is someone that is homeless and starving with no food going to complain that that the food he might have gotten tastes bad? No, because it is all he has. Branch is all we have at PG, so you may not like his game, or his attitude, but that is all we have. Lastly, and this is a problem around this board, judging players after one game is just so pointless. What if all you saw of Harrison was the game against Baylor this year? Does D'Angelo suck? No! Jamal made some poor plays on the road in his first game in the Big East and first game where he actually got a substantial amount of time. Most of his turnovers? He dribbled to much against pressure, maybe he hasn't had enough time out there to develop trust for the four other guys on the floor at that given time. Jamal could get better, could get worse, but don't judge everything about his game on one GAME.

Branch play against Nova was far from a dirty play.
Watch the replay, they were tangled up boxing out and when the play ended he pushed the guy away from him. He wasn't even looking at the guy, just moved him off of him, Not a dirty play. Should have been a no call.
In the future I'd love for him to not do that because anytime you extend your arms you're going to get called, it's like offensive pass interference, if you extend your arm you get whistled. Doesn't matter how little force you push off with.

Imagine Jamal coming on here seeing an entire thread devoted to evaluating his eye? LOL I would pay to see his reaction. True diehard fanbases get personal :D

run jump and subject herself to getting hit in the head so his recovery could weeks I also want him in as soon as possible but if it benefits his health he should stay out until completely healed

I would give a rebuttal, but I think the others did a very fine job of doing so.

Arcapodomus should get nominated for an Emmy for his performance on the play too.

Dirty is an elbow like Sutton.
Dirty is Suh stepping on ppl on the football field.
Dirty is Omar and Reggie Jessie giving low blows.
Shoving off a kid in the game of basketball (specifically on that play) is part of the game.

He shot 50% from the field that day. You know who didn't shoot 50%? Phil Greene. Small sample size but he's at 46% for the two games. Solid for any guard.

Agreed. I have no problem with the foul. Yeah, it was a stupid play, but I like the intenstity and the kid did play football in Texas. It's not easy to shake those football habits. It didn't cost the game by any means.

I like Branch a lot. I am not sold that he is a pure point, but he has good vision and makes plays. He has to learn to protect the ball more and get under control, but what young guard doesn't?

He got out worked by a white boy with bad acne and tossed him when he was frustrated. There's no place for that, I'm the only person critical of him. I can say with 100% certainty that you are all wrong about this clown.

And the fact that he is white and had acne are extremely important facts to this case.

By the way, a friend of mine knows Jamal. Says he's one of the nicest kids he's met at school.

are you serious?? other than that play (which wasn't even dirty) what else makes you a judge of this young mans character?? i for one applaud him if it was intentional for possibly getting his team mates back after he was frikkin ran at and elbowed intentionally by Sutton. it's sort of like when a pitcher in baseball beans a player from the other team after his teammate was intentionally hit. jamal could've done a lot more damage than pushing someone to the ground when they were tangled up. my gosh, you are crazy

Your use of hyperbole doesn't make you credible...you don't know me bro.

As for mase, 1 person saying that somebody is nice means absolutely nothing. Have they spent time together? Who is the source? WHat environment are they in? Your statement is just as meaningful as rawdog's and everyone else's. People throwing their opinions out there is fine, but supplementing them with criticism of me is laughable. Hearsay and hyperbole is all you guys like to chime in with. I speak to the facts. What I saw is a kid not making a basketball play which cost us 2 points. You guys are saying "well blame jakarr for having an off night.' Jakarr failed but he was playing basketball out there. I will never have a distaste for a young man who is at least giving effort. Branch cost us 2 points which had nothing to do with the game of basketball.. That I cannot stand for.

I can say with certainty that we are 100% right about this sirvoo clown.
