Has anything further been said of the extent of his injury?
Being poked in the eye can often lead to a detached retina as was suffered by Gregory Echinique ( formerly of Rutgers and now of Creighton ) and Omari Stoudamire. Furthermore, the symptoms do not necessarily appear immediately. I hope he is back at practice real soon.

I agree
He is an important "piece of the puzzle" if we are to qualify to play in the post season this year

Shelton Jones also had a detached retina while here at St. John's.

i sure hope it is not a detached retina. I am recovering from Retina re-attachment surgery on Nov. 15th and I am still wearing a patch. It may take up to a year to get decent sight back in that eye. And in 30% of the cases the eye never really returns to a high degree.

There are partials and tears of the retina and they are not nearly as bad as a total detachment (including the Macula, the middle part and the most important part.)

let's hope it is not as bad as what I am going through.

while i hope Jamal is not hurt in any serious way, he cost us the W at Nova with his silly technical foul. He is not the type of player I want on my team. Dribbles like he's at rucker and is sloppy at doing it. If you're going to play with panache you better be good at it.

In 37 minutes he has 14 pts, 5 rbs, 5 asts, and 8 turnovers. Your ready to say hes not the type of player you want on your team. To me hes already shown that hes the best passer and penetrator on the team. Maybe the turnover are a product of his rust and excitement?

He cost us the game?
You can say the non intentional foul on Sutton cost us the game.
Or Amir's foul on the 3 pt goal.
Or the pathetic rebounding overall.
Or a missed FT from ANYONE.

So moral of the story how about we not blame him for the game.

He got poked in the eye and his vision was blurred. There is no report of a detached retina, only a poster musing on the possibility of that happening from a poke in the eye. Don't worry about something that didn't happen.

On another note, I'm amused/bemused that one can already write Branch off as someone wh shouldn't be on your team based on his limited minutes, in his first game, after sitting out a year. SMH!

Alot of things cost us that game including the no show in OT. His technical is not at the top of the list for losing that game.

Really, you got that from two games huh? Wow.

It's not rocket science when evaluating a player. Some people have different preferences when doing so. He takes horrible shots and is way too sloppy with the ball. His turnovers were mostly due to his inability to protect the ball on the bounce. And quite frankly I'm surprised nobody raised an eyebrow to his tech. He threw a guy on the floor well after the play was over. It was a scummy move. Told me all I need to know about him and yes it did cost us the game. You guys are middling around blaming young men for mistakes they made while hustling for rebounds or attempting fts. I'm blaming a guy who is a dirty player and a bad reflection on the program. Think it's a clear cut argument

I've got news, but Branch could be the key to this season. He's got real skills at the pg spot and a ton of potential to get better. Kid has great vision and has shown that he can really get to the basket as well. I think he can be excellent and has to be given a lot more time and leeway because he's got great vision and is essentially only a few games into his college career.

He's not dirty and it was during the play albeit late, not after. They were jockeying for position and the nova player was grabbing him so he threw him off. Nova player flopped and acted it up. It was a stupid foul by Branch who was frustrated as was the rest of the team by the home cooking by the refs.

Arcapodomus should get nominated for an Emmy for his performance on the play too.

Dirty is an elbow like Sutton.
Dirty is Suh stepping on ppl on the football field.
Dirty is Omar and Reggie Jessie giving low blows.
Shoving off a kid in the game of basketball (specifically on that play) is part of the game.

He shot 50% from the field that day. You know who didn't shoot 50%? Phil Greene. Small sample size but he's at 46% for the two games. Solid for any guard.

Stupid foul but, IMO, you are dead wrong on his talent level. If he had been running point down the stretch, we win the game. Period.

Really??? He is a dirty player based on 1 play? Wow...exaggeration at its finest

Actually his vision wasn't very good over the weekend. Hopefully it improves quickly. Thanks, I'll be here all week. ;)

Got a good laugh from this. You must be an NBA scout making millions of dollars to make judgements from a few minutes of play. Great to have clear cut vision like you.

I thought I heard he just had laser surgery on tv .... And crystal clear vision takes weeks if not months.....

Depends on what the surgery was. I had laser surgery on both eyes earlier this year. Was better than fine after a couple of days. "laser surgery" covers a whole spectrum of procedures.
